Another Thread about Shocks for LC 9 wraps...

So i know this has ben discussed before and there are thread all over the site about it but if yall know me then u should know i did search but couldnt find a definite answer that i felt was comfortable.

Most of the the other threads started out with asking wat shocks to use fot the 9 wraps but end up being discussed about all the other various LC coil heights so id like to try to get feedback for wat would work on 9 wraps well.

I know that Millerpka is running ProComp ES1000s and said they are his temporary shocks but im wondering if they are still holding up then is it a decent buy to hold me over til i have more cash to shell out? There were also a few that said to use LC stock rear shocks and well i thought about that but wasnt sure if thats the best option and would those have to be purchased at the dealership? (seems it would be overpriced) I have also been looking at bilsteins 5125 but im just not sure how well they would articulate with the coils. Lastly i am currently running the N86 Comfort Shocks with my 891s and im wondering if they will work with the 9 wraps tho i know they arent the greatest to choose from.

I dont need the best shocks on the market right now but im just wondering which shocks to get or to keep my current ones but i want to make sure that if i go over a speed bump or curb or something i would encounter on a daily basis, i just dont want to buy a shock and have it pop/break easily.

The 5125 is a good shock and will work with the coils just fine. In fact your N86 shocks will work for a while also. The big thing to worry about there is that it wont allow to droop as far as the springs are capable. So as long as you are doing normal driving or slow off road this wont be an issue. If you are jumping or driving in a way that lets the rear end drop rapidly to full droop then you can damage your shock. EDIT***(Reason why Desert LT trucks run Limit Straps)

hmm ya thats wat i was afraid of... like i dont plan to do anything hardcore but at my friend's ranch which im at frequently we drive around hilly and rough terrain going about 30-40mph. Im just not sure if i should sell the N86CS with the 891 coils when i get them off or to use them and see wat happens.

I know rockdawg84 is using the rear LC shock so pm him for more info

For the N86's contact [email protected] and aak them, they should be able to give you some good info
 
ok so TRDparts told me they think they might be too short and that he used 9 to 10 travel bilsteins which im not exactly sure which those are... and he told me to talk to u guys to see wat yall say! haha
 
there was one dude on here with that dark red runner on 35's and he was running 9 wraps and stock lc shocks and his truck flexed great, stuffed those 35's. His pics were in the pic thread towards the end.
 
are you going to be keeping your stock rear swaybar end links? If so, then don't bother getting new shocks. those alone will limit the travel before the shocks will. If you plan on upgrading the end links to say 2nd gen 4runner links, then yes, upgrade to land cruiser shocks. I've got the new end links and OME firm land cruiser shocks for the rear of mine now and love it.
 
You could probably sell your old stuff to cover the new parts, seeing as brand new lc shocks are $35 a piece, i think they will better match the 9 wraps then your N86's you have now
 
not exactly sure wat that is... sry but i dont plan to change anything but the rear coils, possibly the shocks and my friend is gonna extend my panhard bar (cut and weld)
 
Ya thats wat im thinking... just trying to find a buyer soon bc i need the money for other stuff.
