ok, i have been searching for the past week or so an hour or 2 at a time. I know what tires should fit and not rub, and what tires need spacers and all that jazz.
My quesitons...
I have an 05 2WD V8 4runner with daystar 2.5/1.5 installed.
I am looking for new tires, but here is my dilemma. I live in FL where its nice and flat and 4wd is never needed in my daily life. However, I am moving back up to MD in a few weeks and know I need new tires to pass inspeciton (more than likely).
I want a tire that will be good in rain and high water as where I will be living is about a foot above sea level on the Chesapeake Bay. I would also like to be able to have some fun in the mud from time to time.
Since I mainly drive my 4 runner to and from work and everywhere else, should I stick with something like a 265/70-17 BFG A/T KO?
Or would it be worth it to go for a mud-terrain T/A KM2?
I love the look of the MT, but will I actually get more out of it on my 2WD, or will it just be pleasing to the eye?
price difference is only about $11 per tire new, but I have found that you can find lots of 255/75-17 very slightly used online from Jeep owners that upgrade from stock.
Any and all opinions and ideas are welcome. I just want something that will be nice under normal driving conditions, but will perform very well in heavy rain, standing water, snow, and mud from time to time.
Once I decide on which to go with, what sizes would you all suggest? I dont want to have to trim a lot (or at all if i can help it), but I still want a nice look with my daystar lift. Should I stick to 265/70-17, or go narrower with a taller sidewall, or just a bigger tire overall, like a 285/70? I would consider getting spidertrax spacers if most of you agree thats best.
Sorry for all the detailed questions, but there are just sooo many damn options out there, I cant decide. At least from searching, I have narrowed it down to 2 tires, and I know I can mount one on the spare and it should fit as well.
One last question. Would FJ wheels make a big difference on what will rub and what wont since the offset is different?
