I forgot where I read it, but those smittybilts were specifically made for Jeep Jk's so they won't fit 100% right on the 4runners.

If you want the molle storage and no seat cover, these are awesome.

I've been thinking about trying the Cooler Kilt from Smith Fly. Link here:

Basically, it is a self-tapping screw with a button as a washer. They are made for a Yeti cooler, but I've seen some of the fly-fishing guys put them in their cars. Then I can just snap the kilt on when I want it and pop it off when I don't.

What about passengers?

I've been considering these for a while, but I want to hear from someone who has them in a 3rd gen 4Runner: how much do they interfere with backseat passengers? My kids are in the backseat about 40-50% of the time I'm in my truck, so it's a concern for me. I like the storage solution it offers, but it might not work. Unless I can get the molle panels and strap them around the rear seat back somehow... just a thought.

I have them on mine. I have a first aid kit on top, a small 6x6 pouch next to it, I forgot what size the next 2 are, but 2 more underneath.
