Another wheel vibration thread.

Heres the story. I had a set of trail wheels on my 2017 SR5P with BFG KO2's (stock size) and had no problem with wheel vibration. A few weeks ago I picked up a set of TRDpro black wheels and had them put on by discount tire. First time they installed them I brought it back and they said the tires were way out of balance. Second time I brought it back they road force balanced them and it was ok for about two days. Third time I brought it back same thing. Today my vibration is back and mainly when I'm accelerating or cruising at highway speeds. So whats the deal just keep taking it back and balancing till it disappears? Is there something with these TRDpro wheels that makes them hard to balance?

I had a similar issue when I put the TRD Pro wheels on my FJ Cruiser. I took it to the dealer after getting the wheels put on, as it had a vibration at highway speeds.

They balanced them slightly better and told me that all of the tires had different air pressures in them and that they had inflated them to equal pressures. They also told me that they could not fully get rid of the issue. All I can say is that after the dealer attention, it did drive much better and had very minimal vibration.

I know in looking at one of the wheels on the FJ, it had so many balancing weights on it, that I suspected there was an issue with the installer, but who knows.

My current TRD Pro has no issue with the stock wheels and have had the tires rotated twice now.

ask the discount tire manager or supervisor if they recommend doing dynamic or static balancing on your tire and wheel combination. then make note of how it was set when you left, run it see how it feels. if it runs like shit then swap it to the other balancing.
are your wheels new or used?
how is the thread wear on your current tires?

Interesting, I will be sure to ask them about that. The wheels are brand new. Tire wear are even. Although, when I had my trail wheels I ran the white walls on the inside. When they installed my TRDpro wheels the white walls were on the outside. I can't imagine this would make a difference though.
