i got a new one on ebay for 15 bucks, haven't put it in yet, but i don't think its too difficult. Ive seen a few write ups for it on 2nd gens & i think its the same thing

Has far as I can remember:

If the teeth are stripped then you can just pull it out with your hands. (That's what I did with mine)

Yes Ebay is the way to go.

I had to take the drive unit apart and remove a piece of the broken plastic gear strip. If you don't I'm sure the new piece will not work well. EBay is the way to go.
