Power radio antenna won't retract and makes a sound for a few seconds like it is trying. I know it is probably a fuse but not sure where fuse box is and which fuse to replace. 1997 4Runner...Thanks
My name says it all...I"m a woman with no car knowledge, and haven't had 4Runner very long, but LOVE IT !!! Any help is appreciated.

you sure its not bent or kinked in any spot? that would prevent it from moving down or up

Not sure...doesn't seem to be bent or kinked. It was working fine a couple days ago.

If it's making a noise, that would indicate the motor is working, so it's not a fuse or motor. It could be the plastic gears inside are stripped.
Try pulling the antenna out by hand while it's trying to work.

I'm having the same problem, mine is bent, I'm going to buy a new mast and see if that will make it work again!

Swap out for a Tacoma whip

I just replaced mine, the power antenna quit working and its more expensive to replace than it is to replace it with a traditional whip antenna. do a search for the taco whip and you will find writeups for it. The kit was only 40 bucks to replace it.
