Antifreeze Type

Asian formula?!?!
I got mine with green in it. Should I flush and switch to red?

Anti-freeze is pretty much the same for the first 30k. (Exception made for Dexcool or anything with silicates which do not play nice with our motors.) The difference is in the corrosion protection and that really only gets tested beyond 30k. I'd leave the green for 25-30k and then go with Toyota red/pink or Zerex Asian after that. If you don't know how old it is, then I probably would flush and switch just to have a baseline.

The last service visit I made to the dealer at 30k in 2002 (150k now), they took out the nice Toyota Red and put in green because "it's what we recommend." They later switched to putting red in all cars which is what I did at 60k. No harm done as far as I can tell.

I've got the green, non asian stuff and haven't had a single problem. It still looks brand new and hasn't gone down any. You'll be ok.

Hey guys. I finally purchased a koyo rad and will be replacing it soon. Since i've got my truck back in 06' with a little over 100k, It's been running green coolant and currently has roughly 165k. Is it ok to flush the coolant system with the old rad with distilled water first, then install the koyo rad and fill with toyota red? I will be doing a drain a fill repeately with distilled water to try to get all the green coolant out.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Flush all the old out with the old rad in there and then put the new rad in before filling with the new coolant. You don't want any old chunks from the engine ending up stuck in your new rad. (hopefully there aren't any chunks!)

Where can I buy the Toyota brand antifreeze? I've looked but I'm having trouble finding any in any stores.

Coolant Flush

I have a 2008 4Runner SR5 V6. I need to flush my cooling system for the first time. Does anyone know if I need the red or pink coolant? Also, about how much will my car hold (do I need one gallon or two)?

I saw a Pentofrost Pink Antifreeze Pre-Diluted coolant online. Is that ok to use or is it absolutely imperative I use Toyota coolant?
