ANTMAN'S Thread

OMG, who is that guy? Howdy Titan, how the heck are you? Is that Antman in the flesh in that photo?

John!!

It's like old home week here...lol

No...that's not the Antman...that was from from one his Brokeback mountain camping trips he did...he's much uglier than that!

All well here, cancer seems to be quiet(just the way I like it) retiring June 30th...hope all is well with you and your gang!

Glad to hear it! We are all good down here in Texas. Family is happy and healthy! Blessings on you brother!

To answer your questions:
1- The amber lights are the turn signal- DRL. They won't light up with the parking brake depressed. Check that...

2- You can light the original green LED by grounding the brown wire- BUT- it only works when the fogs are on with the headlights. In other words it works the way it did before the mod. Your fogs will still work whenever you want.

I was hoping someone could figure it out, but so far no luck!

Glad you like the mod- Independent Foggers unite!

Thread to the top! I did the foglight mod. Thanks for figuring it out. Years ago I figured out how to do it on my 06 Tundra by just cutting a wire and splicing into a powered wire, no relays or nothing. But I did this one without understanding the logic, but it works.

HOWEVER I tried #2; grounding the brown wire from the plug. It does light up the green LED as you say, BUT the fogs are ALWAYS on with low-beams then. I undid that part. I'm just going to try to forget the green LED ever existed...there isn't one on my Tundra either.

thanks,
Joe

I find the front cupholder to be mostly useless with my phone typically there- and I paid attention to how much space I actually have behind my right elbow on the console. That's when this happened...

Great post Antman. Correct me if I’m wrong, does the back of armrest/console where the AC vent just comes off, does anything else need to be removed or unscrewed to remove just the back? The back is just held by plastic fasterners? My kid’s puke made its way into and into the AC airvent of the center console and I want to remove to clean it thoroughly.

N-Fab side step install- Rocker panel trimmed: HOW-TO

I just stumbled upon your HOW-TO for the Rocker panel trim. This was awesome, and now I can finally get some steps or rock slides that fit my 2012 4Runner Limited.

Thank you!

Kudos to Antman for generating the best thread on any automotive forum I have ever seen!!

After spending a lot of time of the past week reading through this entire thread, I couldn’t help but feel let down by the way it ended. In a better world, I can imagine at least a couple of better outcomes instead of Antman trading his rig in at a Chevy dealership:

1) Toyota takes notice of Antman’s work, and highly intrigued and inspired, they buy Antman’s rig from him for $1 million and send it to Toyota’s R&D lab for ideas for improvements for future iterations of the 4Runner; or

2) Some wealthy 4Runner enthusiast decides he/she wants to own the most cleverly customized 4Runner on the planet, so they buy Antman’s rig for $1 million.

DRL anytime

i have a 2023 4runner, SR5.

it has the "fangs", LED fogs
it also has SINGLE bulb for the low AND high beam. LEDS
My DRL are halogen and are on the 'inside" of the head light housing, in it's own REFLECTOR.

What I am looking to do:
I want to have my DRL's be ANYTIME. I am not concerned with using the DRL controller on the the stick. I have been looking for a wire harness that will plug into the 9006 bulbs and run to their own aftermarket (but factory looking) button that ASPIREAUTOACCESSORIES has.

My thinking is, i have a "light housing" already, so why add a NEW light fixture, like behind the grill. Just remove the bulb from the factory wiring, run new wires, powered from the battery (fused) to a new switch that i can install into the blank spots on the dash. The reason is both "looks" and theft.

I want to run the VLEDS duel color (6K and 3K in the same led bulb) in the stock DRL housing, instead of buying a whole light bar or pods. This way i can turn them on as needed along with my head lights or even high beams.

I live in an area with a lot of deer and a lot of the back road are dark as can be with no lighting (but a hint of a banjo play in the back ground), and we get a lot of dense fog (hence the 3K light).

I have looked, and read forum after forum, and even asked VLEDS, DIODE DYNAMICS, and APSIRE if they have a premade wire harness, that is just a wire harness that can plug in the back of a DASH factory switch, that can plug into a 9005 bulb. Again, i am not looking to use the factory wiring, I am shooting for a completely unconnected lighting unit, except for using the factory housing.

Does anyone know if this harness is made and sold anywhere?
