Any 2014 Owners Can Answer Question

I purchased a new 2014 Trail last Saturday (base model--not the premium). I cannot find the Sirius XM Radio on the audio screen. It looks like it was not loaded but the Toyota website says it comes with 90 days and my window sticker says it has it too. I called my salesman and he tried some 2014s on the lot and he could not find it either. He has a call in to Toyota but I thought I would ask here too.

Thanks folks. I will check it out. I have never had a car with XM radio. Sounds like cable tv with nothing on worth watching.

You probably will find a couple of stations where you think "this is awesome!". Wait to sign up until after your 3 month trial is over - you will probably have the play lists memorized on those stations by then. If you do sign up and decide to cancel or not renew they are Nazi's about it. Once was enough for me, never again...

I personally like Sirius XM and have had a good customer experience. They give me no issues with cancelling and always end up giving me a fair deal to keep my business. Stations like 2, 3, Lithium, Alt Nation, Hip-Hop nation and Shade not so much, and especially BPM appeal to me. Well worth the $5 or $6 per month I've paid over the last few years, especially considering no commercial interruptions and reception EVERYWHERE. Sorry for trolling :). Good luck.
 
I still do not see any XM or satellite icon on any screens. It should be on the same audio source screen where it says AM, FM, etc., but it is not there. I think the make ready guy screwed up and did not load something correctly.
 
I went to two dealers today and spent several hours at both of them. Both dealer service departments looked for XM radio on my touch screen and nobody can find one on my 2014 Trail (standard edition). It looks like the hardware is not on the vehicle. The weird thing is that the window sticker says it has XM, the website says all 2014 4runners have xm (even the plainest of the plain), and the brochure shows all 2014 4runners have xm radio standard. There is no antenna on the roof and no xm icon on the audio source screen to even access xm radio. It looks like Toyota screwed up big time. All the print materials say it has it but the car says it does not. By the way there is no kit or module for the 2014 for xm radio (probably because it should have it from the factory).:bash:

LOL! Kind of like the NRA, huh? Or AARP? Actually, I like satellite radio. Sure there's a lot of stations I won't even listen to, but some are pretty darn good. If I get tired of their playist, I just switch stations. I just like the clear, uninterrupted, stereo music, with no commercials. I bought just a one year subscription. I figured I'd give it a full year to see whether it's really worth it or not.

BTW, try this. Turn your radio on. Then while watching the display, keep pressing the "Radio" button. It should go from FM to AM to Satellite. When it gets to satellite radio the display will show "XM."

Wait. No antenna on the roof? Are you sure the window sticker for your vehicle said it came with XM radio or did it say "available?"

I am sure. Go to Toyota website and look at the standard features for the 4runner. It says it comes with it and even comes with 90 days Sirius subscription. The window sticker says it comes with it too. So does the printed brochure, which you can also access or see at the Toyota website. Everything says it comes with it, but it does not have it.
 
You Sir, got a lemon. Have fun running in circles with Toyota. Instead of trying to find your entitled XM, you should be demanding Toyota remedy this and throw in something for free, like a cargo mat or whatever for their inept ability to offer consistent quality. That's a major f up.

It's not just mine. It is all of them that I have seen on the lots that are the standard version of either the SR5 or the Trail. The Limited of course has it. I would not really call it a lemon, but I did not get what I was supposed to get according to the window sticker, the brochure, and the Toyota website. By the way, I looked on the roof and there is not even a place to put an XM antenna (no cutout, etc.). I wonder if it is even possible to put XM on it.

I do agree that I should get something for not getting what I bargained for. However, I bought a few Toyota accessories for it today, so I don't think I need anything else in the way of accessories. Plus, I am not that happy with the Toyota accessories. The cargo cover does not really cover the entire space and I can see under it from outside the car (see all the items that I am trying to hide with the cover). The rubber cargo matt is very light weight (I was expecting something more substantial for $100). And the all weather floor matts could be larger to cover more carpet IMO. Don't get me wrong, I am a big Toyota fan. That's all I buy. But the accessories are not that great.
 
No shark fin, no xm. The radio will work with it, but if you didn't pay for the option, you don't have it. 90 days free comes with the fin.
 
Well another mistake I found Toyota made is that my 2014 trail does not have the slide out cargo tray in the rear. Most if not all promo pics of the trail show that it does have it. I'll be honest I didn't look in the back till I picked ine up. I was kinda looking forward to that option.

You probable have a base model, I'm guessing. Th sliding tray is an option on the base model, but comes standard on the trail premium.

I agree, this is a big f--- up on Toyota's part. It does say it in the brochure and the website. If your reading this Toyota, what are you going to do!! Probably nothing is my guess. BS IMHO.

That's the problem. I did pay for it. It says it on the window sticker, on the Toyota website, and the brochure. I just did not get what I paid for. Toyota is telling people you get it, but you don't. By the way, it's not an option. It's standard. In fact, according to the Toyota website, there is no way to get a 2014 without xm. It is standard on all of them. Go look at the Toyota website.
