Any events similar to FJ Summit?

So I missed out on FJ Summit AGAIN (I am waitlisted, but basically that means there is no chance). I am really bummed I missed the event because I have been trying to go for 3 years. I will try to make it out to Ouray before or after FJ Summit and just do my own thing, hit some trails, etc, but it won't be the same.

Are there any other events similar to FJ Summit, where there are amazing trails? I am hoping I can at least do the next best thing........

If you want to be around hundreds of other wheelers / toyota people, why not start your own event?
Pick a place, pick a date, pick some trails, "Just Do it" lol I personally would rather wheel with a few select people, lots less stress, less BS, and much more fun, but thats me lol

I would rather wheel with a few people too, but honestly I don't know a lot of people and from that group finding people with flexible schedules, who are willing to travel 1000+ miles to get to a destination, etc, is difficult.

As to why I don't start my own event.....time. It takes a tremendous amount of time, effort and planning to put on an event. To attend an event does not require much effort. I am not interested in starting an event, there are actually tons of events out there, its just about finding the right ones, that's why I am posting to find ones I may not be aware of.

Sorry to hear that. I finally am able to make it this year. They said it sold out in 22 seconds this year. How far down are you on the wait list? I heard a lot of people on the list actually get in. I've heard you have to be quick with your email though if you do come up.

I'd be interested in other events as well.

I think you may have heard wrong. I am between 190-200 people on the waitlist. Historically I believe at most 15 or so people are taken from the waitlist.......so being position 190-200 means its not happening.

Ah I didn't know you were that far back. I was just going by what people were saying on the Summit FB page.

Several butt hurt FJ owners on there crying about all of the T4Rs coming and the FJ guys not getting a spot. Hope I'm not driving across the country to get treated like crap over there.
 
[MENTION=303056]Bayou_Pro[/MENTION] I have never been to FJ or an Expo. I just offered this since it does have real trail runs with groups or you can go off on your own. Ozark mountains are nice with plenty to explore. They do offer classes for folks and a few vendors. It is growing in size this will be the third year of it. It is fun for the family.

Well they shouldn't care if its an FJ or even a Toyota......I mean unless they want to make it a fanboy event but that would be lame.

Yeah I would be interested in some of the classes. I'm pretty new at the hardercore off-roading so always looking to learn. I hear the Ozarks are beautiful. Thanks for posting it.

I like the idea of it being Toyota exclusive but not everyone could fit a family of 4 in an FJ. I had one and loved it but it got way to small when I had kids. I'm hope it's just isolated to a few butt hurt people. I haven't heard a single complaint about the event. I local buddy of mine has been in his FJ and his LC and said it's awesome. I'm taking a 6 year old son so I know he will be in awe.
 
I wanted to attend Summit but after hearing about how quick it sells out I didn't even bother. What I did is round up some close friends that want to make the trip out to Ouray. we are going to Ouray early in the week and then MOAB towards the end of the week. Lots of camping and wheeling with a few close friends. Best way to do it.

I heard we can still attend the vendor show. I plan to do this and meet up with some people that will be in the area. Should be a great time. Just pack up your camping gear and head west!

Yeah, went 2 years ago. It's like Easter Jeep Safari but on a much, much smaller scale. However they must be getting bigger if they're moving the headquarters to Old Spanish Trail Arena. We really wanted to do the Kokopelli overnight run but weren't able to register in time. Instead we did Hell's Revenge night run which was awesome. Here's a video:

Go to Ouray anyway. Better to skip the event. There will be plenty of people there any time of the year including Toyota's. I've been going there since the 80's and it is sad to see the traffic it gets now. Ouray is a special place nonetheless, my favorite.
