I actually have a whole book of these stories--I love hearing how a crook's stupidity got him/her nailed. Here's a couple:

A guy robbing a bank used a great disguise, good enough to have done the deed clean, but his note to the teller was written on his own stationery, with his name and address right on it!

A guy tried to commit insurance fraud by driving his NY-based vehicle to FL, abandoning it at an apartment complex, and filing a stolen vehicle report when he got home. His story blew up when the apartment mgr. in FL noticed the car, and upon examinng it, found the hand-written directions the crook had made for the trip down there lying on the seat.

Some perv set up a camera in a women's restroom at a theater he worked at. When the camera was found, the police found all they needed--the guy had turned the camera on while checking the alignment, and taped himself setting it up!

Plenty more where these came from... Enjoy!

Favorite part...who doesn't?
"In a January interview with police, Starkenburg allegedly said "he goes to the park everyday to watch women run as he likes to watch them 'jiggle and bounce,'"

haha, i remember when this first happened, i thought it was just a witch hunt, because, yeah i look as well, and i like to watch them jiggle and bounce, he has a point there, he just lost me at face planting into their sphincter....:nono:

stupid stupid stupid people...

I once read about a dude who robbed a firearms store. He walked AROUND the cop car sitting out front, went inside, and told everyone to stick their hands up. Of course, half the customers shot him on the spot. Later, it was discovered that he had bullets from 8-9 different guns...

Definitely one of my favorite failed-crime stories was one about a guy who successfully robbed a store, then ran into a problem outside and got caught. Apparently there was one of those Toys for Tots deals in front, ran by local Marines--when the crook ran into them, he made a major screw-up and knifed one of them...bad move. The news story about his capture spoke of how the crook, while leaving the store, "fell and struck a curb"--and this "curb" left him with so many broken body parts that he'll be in a hospital for weeks! Those "curbs" in camo don't take it kindly when you attack one of their own.

Not recent, but it gives the folks of rural South Carolina a real bad name, even though I don't think all residents are into animal love.

Man Arrested In Attack Over Fried Chicken - Indiana News Story - WRTV Indianapolis

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A Bloomington man was attacked and knocked to the ground by a man who wanted to steal his bucket of fried chicken, police said.
A 22-year-old man was walking home in the 500 block of South Park Ridge Road just before 1 a.m. Wednesday when he was confronted, police said.
Sean M. Nelson, 24, demanded the man give him his bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and began slapping and punching him when he refused, police said.
The victim suffered a chipped tooth, red marks on his neck and a torn shirt, police said.
Nelson was arrested on preliminary charges of attempted robbery, battery and resisting arrest.

Cant find the link to the story but back in Washington during the middle of the day a man walked into a bank wearing one of those horse masks Horse Head Mask - Archie McPhee & Co. without a weapon on him. He robbed the bank then got away on a bicycle that was parked outside the bank. On his way out of town he dropped most of the money which kids picked up, then bought mass candy/drugs with. Cops never found him

I once got arrested for blowing up a trash can outside of a Taco Bell when I was 16.

True story. :ak472:
