I am a ham.
I have not personally used them. Are you looking for a handheld or mobile setup? I do have a chinese handheld that I am pretty impressed with for the price. It is a wouxun. Programming can be a pain on these radios though.

But I'm not much of an equipment junkie. I'll run a mobile rig in my vehicle when I'm off-roading but otherwise don't keep the unit installed. Occassionaly I'll monitor the local repeater during severe weather using a handheld.
It seems more people are gravitating to S/W versus CB setups for obvious performance gains.
