Any idea what is causing this popping sound?

lately I have been getting a pop when I back up and turn. I usually hear it once in the cab. I took a video today and noticed its doing it a lot actually. Anyone have any ideas what this sounds like. Everything is tight and greased. Both LCA's and all the hardware is new after I had to cut the old ones out.

It sounds like it could be a CV binding due to wear or lack of grease. The sound plus it happens when you are turned a lot and bouncing or changing speed or direction, all of which put more stress on them.

But I'm not an expert on that :/

^ This. I have the exact same problem now, I guess its time to change the cv's. Lasted pretty long though, considering the grease has been gone for months

It "sounds" like a CV axle joint. I actually confirmed mine by crawling underneath, grabbing the center of the axle shaft, and firmly shaking it. Mine were bad enough that I could feel that both the inboard and outboard joints were bad.

Guess what I get to do today? I am just wasting time here on the boards waiting for the rain to stop. Then, I've got myself a job. Parts and tools ready to go.

Well I crawled underneath while a buddy turned the wheel back and forth. It feels like its coming from the passenger side LCA rear bolt. I guess I need to take that off and see whats going on.

Man, that could be a CV joint, but it could also be a ball joint. You're going to have to jack that sucker up and check for play on your ball joints, as well as your sway bar links. Rule those out and then move to CV joint diagnostic (Yes, I'm in the medical field).

Just FYI to anyone who finds this, turns out the guy who did my alignment thought it would a good idea to WAY over tighten the cam bolts and not allow the arms to move. I had to use a breaker bar with a cheater to get them loose. Torqued them to spec and no more pops.

OK, perhaps I was a bit vague on that statement. As read, yes, I can see where you could come up with that conclusion.

Keep in mind that the CV axle was "acting up" in other ways. One, it would have a metal-to-metal noise when going over bumps and small potholes...easily heard. Two, it would have a rotational "swish, swish, swish" noise when moving slowly through the neighborhood. Three, it would have a vibration or shudder upon acceleration from a stop until about 25mph...but still had a small vibration felt in the steering wheel at highway speed. Four, the first 30 yards, or so, of travel through the neighborhood in the morning, it would have a rotational "squeak, squeak, squeak", then go away.

It did not have the "click, click, click" when making a tight turn.

When I went underneath and grabbed the axle shaft, yes, there is supposed to be a fair amount of play, but specifically, when I shook it, I was recieving a lot of metal-to-metal vibration that I could feel in my hand, as well as, hear. Something that was not felt on the other axle on the other side, and certainly was not felt with the new axle, once installed.
