26, not that young anymore compared to you young'uns. But I guess I'll be grateful for the lower insurance premium for being an older unmarried male. Anyhow, whoever said the 4Runner is a family car, it doesn't concern me one bit. The only sports cars I wanted back then was a MR2, Supra or Celica All-Trac turbo. But I've always wanted a SUV and the 4Runner has been #1 for the last 10-15 years before I could even drive. They will appreciate your 4Runner when you can take more than two without having them stuffed in the back seat. I could've probably gotten an IS or G35 coupe instead of the 4R, but for my needs, nothing beats a 4R. Try stuffing 162 cm snowboards in a coupe or sedan. My cousin's husband is so annoyed by his CL, he rather rent gear than try to bring his own.

I wish I had a 4Runner at your age, that would have been awesome, but I didn't.

I am currently 20 and a student at Cal Poly SLO, using my 4Runner an my main commuter car to drive home to Sacramento (300 miles), I figured it doesn't do that great concerning gas mileage, but when I need to carry stuff it has it's perks. I wish I would have had some financial help with my car, if that was the case I would have boughten my 4Runner sooner. However I take great pride in being a 4Runner owner, not many people can say that they payed for their entire car by themselves + insurance and registration.

However enough about my whining. Congrats on you're 4Runner, and welcome to the club/family.

i saw your runner. a 1rst gen over 100 in insurance? thats insane. im only gettin about 132 on insurance with one accident on record.

At least not at a young age anyway. I'm 23 and have personally paid for every vehicle I've ever owned, with the 4runner being the newest and most expensive.

Turned 22 in May here.....bought my 05 4runner brand new 06/27/06.........bought it with my own money though, no parents helpin on this one I also have been out of college since I was 19 so I can afford it. I'll post more pics later, it's in the shop right now getting fixed, someone broke into it :-(

Cool im only 15, probably the youngest gun around. I bought my '93 4Runner about a month ago. I haven't been able to drive it too much because I don't get my license till January. Its depressing. I have to watch it sit in my driveway and want to be driven. Here's the only pic I have so far, when it was at the dealer.

I'll keep the thread going, im 17 and lovin it. My t4r was passed down to me from my older brother, he now has a 2000 t4r. from then on ive been modyfing it.

Nice. I'm 17 too, just got the 4R a couple months ago, along with my GX. Parents don't use the GX so i was using that until I got the 4R. Better gas mileage, and more handy to use. Plus you don't look like a "rich snooty" teenager when you're driving a non-luxury car.

But the GX is waaay nice to use though. I don't know about your guys' height, but a guy like me feels a little cramped in the 4Runner. I got a 4Runner w/o moonroof, and it's already this bad, moreso if it had one. :roadkill:

Currently I get my license next month, so I will be 16 and I get the 4Runner when I graduate college. lol. But hey, I love this car and I'm the only one that takes great care of it. Its def better than nothing. Currently in the market for a '90, maybe '91, I of course have to pay for everything myself.
There is a person I know that got a brand new 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder convertible , loaded. :bonk: I would never get my kids a new car, because young drivers have the tendency to trash cars. I'm actually glad I pay for everything myself, makes me learn the value of money early on. Def can't wait till I get my own 4Runner. :biggrin2:

You have the same mentality as me. Even way before I got my license, I was the one maintaining the car, in terms of cleanliness and TLC. This started, I'm guessing, when I was about 11 or 12 years old, back in the old days when we used to have an RX300. It was one of the first cars I ever took good care of. Now I'm tryin to catch up on the care of the odyssey, because it had been neglected of good cleaning in the past few years when my dad got sick and tired of cleaning cars, and I was still in the transition from the immature little boy, to being mature, and more responsibile with things.

17 here... 18 in May! Can't wait for college, but I'm going to miss my Runner for the first year though!
My dad has a '03 4Runner, but he doesn't take great care of it, he's more focused on the S550 (I would be too!). I've tried to get him to start modding, but his theory is that we cant improve upon what Toyota has done. I guess its true... but wheres the fun in that!?

Does 17 count? I drive a 99 4Runner SR5. I bought it in the summer of '06. I'll have pics soon. It's Millenium Silver, took off the running boards and I'm not sure whether i'm liking the little space past the front fender flares or not. It's kinda growin' on me. Just recently bought an AEM Brute Force cold air intake sytem. LOVE it. Got an alpine deck, alpine type r's in the front doors, and a 12" type e woofer with a 400 watt alpine amp. I'm planning on lifting it 2 1/2" to 3", but I'm having trouble deciding on which lift kit to buy. Skyjacker (2.5") w/ Nitro shocks, Daystar (2.5") bushing & coil spacer lift, or the Revtek (3") coil spacer kit. I plan on keeping my BFGoodrich 265/75/16's. Any suggestions? I would really appreciate any advice.
