I'm 17, however I bought my 4Runner right before I became 17. March 11, 2008, brought it home.

Looked like crap when I got it, had to do some work... worth it, even though it's the base model.

Im 19, Been driving 4runners since i was 16. Had a 96 that is now my sisters first car the thing has 235k on the Clock. Mom has a 03 with almost 90k on the clock. And here is mine that i bought 3 months ago. Stock minus Deckplate, ISR, and Airlift 1000.

man you guys all have it made...when i was 16 my 1st car was a 1980 Datsun 310 in blue. and when i got it none of the doors opened from the outside except the drivers side so i had to fix it. but hey i learned to drive a stick and install stereos on that car.

i wish i was 18 again. those were the days. stupid growing up.

+1 to the youngsters with the 4th gen runners having it made.

My first car at 16 was a 1987 Nissan 200sx with the 3.0l V6 RWD, 5spd, only front brakes. It was awesome, at $800 it was kind of a piece, but I loved it. I still regret selling it.

My second car at 18 was a 2000 Audi A6. It was nice, every option was standard. But I hated it. It had an awkward wheel base which made low speed turning tedious and strange electrical problems. I went through a box of 50 10A fuses in the last 6 weeks I owned it. Once I thought the blinker bulb went out, so I picked up some new bulbs and went to change them to find that the bulb was fine, but rather the connection terminal had shorted and melted a small hole plastic headlight assembly. That whole assembly is $500+ from the dealer, so I fixed it myself with a soldering iron and a dremel. I almost feel bad for the current owner... And the looks you get for having the front end of an Audi torn apart in a school parking lot are kind of amusing. The only thing I miss are the heated seats and small things like the stereo reset to a low volume when you started the car. That way you could shut off the car playing loud music, then it wouldn't scare you when you went to drive it the next time. Audis are nice to drive, but they are best for spoiled girls with wealthy fathers who foot the bill.

Now I'm 20 and have a 2001 runner which I absolutely love. The 4runner is a great vehicle for us young guys with its reliability. And its not too bad on insurance if you don't drive like an idiot. I just wish I still had my 200sx to play with....

Growing ol' is mandatory, growing up is optional!

But I guess it's true that boys never let off the playin' stuff. The toys just grow bigger.

I loved my ol' runner on 32s, later on 38s. And then my few other runners on 33s to 38s... and then the biter I have now, 44s. lol I don't do much of careless wheelin' like I used to do. Too bad, I miss those days when every small rock was an obsticle!

And drivin' old jacked cars is the best school! Many things we learn from that. Like how to break into cars when the keys don't work anymore... lol
And fix strange oil leaks with duct tape, fix a broken tooth in a tranny in the wilderness... Ah, the good ol' times. lol

My friend got a brand new Volvo S40 T5 (turbo) as his first car when he was 16, and now that the lease is up on the S40, he got a brand new Mercedes-Benz C300! :cannon: He's only 19 like me!!! :headslap:

17 here, and I own a 1997 4x4 3.4 auto love it except for the fact that it was in an accident before i owned which raises the question of how long ill have it... maybe another T4R maybe not dont think im ready to let go of trucks yet so the T4R has a good chance

x2! I like how when I was 16 I thought being 21 would be the best thing in the world, but now that Im 21 it is the other way around. When I was 16 I didnt have a care in the world. Now the next significant b-day is when I turn 40. What a pisser.
