He had white tails in the midwest and out here it's mule deer but they tend to stay off the trails, you see them alot but they keep their distance. I've seen 2 bears out here. I haven't come across a mountain lion yet but theres plenty of areas warning you that you're going into their habitat. Supposedly at Betasso if you get more than 200 yards from the trailhead you've already been spotted by a mountain lion. Occasionally we see coyotes on some of the more open trails. It's not animal related but I was surprised how often we'll see a cactus plants along trails.

How about the opportunity for a self-sponsored biking and camping trip to the Kaibab Plateau?
Seriously great riding up there. The AZ Trail is quite varied. Here's another shot of it up on the plateau, close to the Grand Canyon NP boundary. Elevation here is pushing 9,000. It doesn't look anything like AZ. Absolutely gorgeous.
Nice bike. But on a not so nice note, have you heard if the problems with the Evolution forks have been fixed? My Stumpjumper came with an Fox fork with the Evolution CTD open bath dampener. It crapped out after a couple hundred miles, I mailed it to Fox for warranty and didn't even bother putting the Evo guts back in it, they mailed it back with the CTD trail adjust internals.

Didn't know there were problems. Can you tell me more or provide a link to more info? I'm very new to this stuff.
Generally I'm not too concerned about that kind of thing since if it breaks or has issues, my lbs will handle. Guaranteed. Whether it's within "warranty" or not. I can be incredibly insistent and persuasive when unhappy.
This is when I looking into the problems I was having with mine 2013 Fox F29 120mm CTD Evolution Series CTD damper issue- Mtbr.com
From poking around a bit more it seems like the 2013 Evo forks were the ones with dampener issues (and a recall for overextending and launching the lower off with the wheel attached while riding). I didn't realize it was that long ago, time flies... but that's good, there's no way they would still be putting out the same problematic stuff a model year or two newer.

Love my XT brakes on my Fuel EX 9, very reliable, hard stopping, and easy to maintain. Good choice.
Wheels are done! 32 hole WTB Frequency i25 29er rims, DT240 6 bolt disk hubs, 15mm axle in front, 12x142 in the rear, Sram 11 speed XD driver body, DT ProLock alloy nipples, DT Super Comp spokes. It's a super stout beefy wheelset, really really stiff, and surprisingly they only came out to 1890 grams with tape and valves.
