Any opinions on this rack?

I saw this one from Cabela's and was wondering if anyone had any experience or opinions on it?

That's a ways out of my budget for now.

What is your price range? What do you plan on doing with the rack?

For only $112 I think the quality would be low.

I got my Yakama rack on Amazon for $245 ish then found I had to have the 18" extension for another $135 I believe it was. I've had it loaded down real well in the past and held up great.

Kid drove it through the car wash (tried to be nice) and ripped it off the top. Besides scratching the paint and bending two cross members, no other damage. Trying to straighten those cross members were a pain in the ass but all all the factory welds held, even though I was going full Hulk mode on them. It's stronger then it looks.

A lot of people run these cheaper racks. They work pretty well just wouldn't over load it.

my complaint on most aftermarket racks, esp the cheaper ones, are too high. It drags butt on the highway and does not clear most garages if you have a lift. I took my yakima off and put it on my brothers CRV and will be building my own low pro one once i get some time to fab it up

Bingo!!! Gobi won't be gettin my business for being such letigious anti-competition, overpriced A-holes, although I do like their ladder. I want a low full length rack so I'm gonna build my own outta electrical conduit for the perimeter (easy to bend with a conduit bender) and square tubing for the cross members, it will be tha BEST ROOF RACK EVER!!! Will require welding. There is a low full length rack being made by that guy in California which is reasonably priced but I want mine done a bit differently, more custom built for what I want.

I have a cheap Reese rack on mine. Never had a problem. It sits a little high but I will be fixing that soon with my own mounts. Full length would be nice but I have too many other things I could put 500 to 1000 dollars towards. The one in this thread looks pretty close to the Curt rack. And that seems to be a pretty popular rack.

Actually I measured this against the 4runner and this Cabelas rack with the extension is a good length, almost full length. The only thing is it is flat whereas I want one that contours the curve of the roof.

Well, before my first rig was wrecked I had my heart set on a Whitson no matter what the cost but we all know how that went :frusty:

I know Gobi makes good equipment, but I don't think I want to give them my money.

This one looked close to the size and length of those without being too high (I might be mistaken on that) and I can acquire one pretty soon. Anything more will require more overtime and convincing of the wifeling. Not impossible, just more struggle to make happen.
