Any other models use the same sunroof as 4runner?

Found some rust on my glass frame between the weather stripping.. Going to look for some replacement glass (not the whole assembly)..

Was going to hit up some salvage yards.. But was hoping Toyota or Lexus used the same dimension sunroof on other models as well... Maybe expand my options instead of looking for a needle in a haystack..

I'm hoping you geniuses know which ones...

I'm thinking possibly the gx460. I was hoping the es300. But can't confirm.

I'm pretty sure the oem part number is 63201-35090 sunroof glass..

The es300 is 63201-33091. I'm just curious how close

Did you mean the GX-470? 470 is our 4th gen, 460 is the newest revision

I was in a friends 2007 Toyota Sienna a few years ago and they appeared to be the same size.

Will do tomorrow. My main issue is the rubber gasket apparently isn't replaceable. Or serviceable.

I wanted to peal it back. Brush down the rust. Repair with a quick set type compound if need be. Sand down. Replace gasket. Reinstall. But idk if any of that is possible. Or if I **** up. I need a back up plan. Lol.

Personally I would just scrape off any loose stuff and wipe on some corroseal or similar rust neutralizers. Its just a little rust in an inconspicuous place that isnt going to cause any major harm for a long time. Sunroof still works. Any water that passes just drips into the drain and not into the car right? Save that money for a cool mod

If the water is dripping from the glass behind the rubber seal you could inject some silicone under there.

Well. I removed the sunroof. Pealed back the rubber and exposed the leading edge without taking the rubber off. I busted out the dremel and hit all the rust spots. I then applied two coats of rust converter. Vacuumed all the loose pieces up. Ran a bead of wd40 in the rubber crevice. And reassembled.

Only step I'm debating is running some super glue under the front top flap of rubber where it meets the glass. That is clearly where the water is entering the seal.

Thoughts?

figured Id close this topic out for anyone interested.. pretty inconclusive..

I ended up running a small bead of silicone gasket maker between the glass and rubber..

after I ran the bead i noticed the little holes in the rubber itself, which I can only assume is to help it drain... and the two holes on the front of my glass frame is exactly where the rust build up happened..

so maybe that is the defect... i don't think blocking those 2 holes is the way to go, (but maybe it re routes the water).. so i basically put the silicone over the rusted spot that i cleaned up for extra protection as well.. ill check it in a few months to give an update...

Just searched this issue and came up with your thread. I noticed today when I opened my sunroof, I had a 2 inch or so part that was rusting...never noticed it before. After doing some research it seems like others have the same issue and the gasket isnt replaceable like you said. I am thinking about doing what you did, sand down and just put some silicone in there maybe but wanted to see if you had an update from when you did yours?

The gasket has holes in it to help drain.. so the moisture will always be there.. but ya i sanded, then sprayed rust converter, and then siliconed the piece, tried to be heavy in the rust areas...

i looked and it is better than it would be if i didn't do anything.. at hasn't really progressed..

check your back latch too, water gets stuck between the sound deadening material and your back latch metal panel and causes rust too..

just a bad design..

The sunroof issue has been a dilemma of mine for about a year now. Mine was rusted exactly as the O.P pics. I was disappointed to find out Toyota didn't offer the gasket as a replaceable part. The gasket is attached to the glass in a way that I don't think can be installed outside the supplier's factory where it is constructed.
I found a glass on Craigslist about a year ago for $75.00. The gasket was not perfect but it was a little better than mine and not rusted.
Last week I noticed the carpet under the driver's floorboard was soaked. We have a lot of hard rain lately here in Georgia. I had my windshield replaced about a year ago so my glass guy came by to look at it. After some digging around and water spraying I saw the water dripping inside way up underneath the dash corner where the firewall and A pillar come together. I removed the A pillar trim and ran the water again. I was inside the car, all windows and sunroof were closed and he was spraying the water. I first noticed that water was running down inside the sunroof drain hose. Well that shouldn't be happening for starters as the sunroof was closed. I then started to see water outside the hose in the A pillar itself. I looked at the underside of my A pillar trim that was removed and I could see where water had been sitting in it.
If my guy would cut the flow of water down it would only flow inside the drain. turn the water up and it would drip outside of it. Basically what we concluded was that the gasket had shrunk to the point that it was allowing too much water in and the trough would fill up beyond what the drain hose could handle.
I bit the bullet as I was tired of messing with it and tired of my carpet getting soaked. I ordered a new glass assembly and installed it yesterday. What a difference in the gasket between old and new. It now sits tight against the opening as it once did. I was able to get the part for $498.00. I buy a pretty good amount of Toyota parts for my auto shop so he cut me a pretty good deal.
Sorry for the long winded post. Hope it helps someone out if they have a water leak.

Ah the lovely sunroof. I like you had a rusty sunroof along with a gasket that bunched up and that wouldn't seal. I searched high and low and couldn't find a replacement glass and the dealer wanted way too much for the whole gasket/ window assembly.

So I hit up the local toyota salvage yard and found the entire assembly for $250, which actually made the process a bit easier. I dropped the headliner, unbolted the old assembly, bolted the new one in and was ready to go.

can you tell me how you did this? I know it's an old thread, but I can't seem to find any instructions on removing the glass.
