I bought a bull bar with Westin lights and it proved to do well this weekend, hit a "hill" and instead of it scratching up the front bumper the truck slid on the bull bar. I like the look of it and it was relatively cheap.

You can also get ones that hide (kind of) the bumper guard in a front plate mount: Car Bumper Protection, Bumper Protector and Color Bumper Guards, Car Door Guards

When I lived in the city, my car developed some serious bumper rash, so I think I know what you're trying to address.

Any simple pics or suggestions of custom bar just below the front bumper to keep of the plastic on 07 SR5? Just an inch or .5 out from the bumper to say this is close enough (not for show vs just a guard). My idea is 1” SQ tubing or pipe that should look as part o the frame vs the body w/o looking as a mess. The front is the major concern since the tow receiver helps in the back. Actually adhesive trim might be tuff enough on the plastic bumper to protect it. The real truth is, I have a padded post and STUFF I bump to know I’m fully under my rear car-port when not in the garage. jow

try SUPERBUMPER Hitch Step - Stops Rear End Collision Damage. I have one and love it. The third day I had it on some ********* hit the rear of my runner in the parking lot smashing his fiberglass bumper and causing no damage to mine.
