Any reason not to go with OEM axles?

Toyota dealer said I need new axles because they are both leaking.. however there is no vibration or creaking.. when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right sometimes I hear what seems to be a front coil make noise but other than that nothing.

If your axles are not making noise and causing weird vibrations, then you don't need all new axles...you can just reboot using the same kit I got which I linked above. That's the cheapest and best option IMO

Yiiikes...not sure if you'd want to rebuild at that point...might be more cost effective to buy new OE axles if your bearings are toast...

those are OEM Toyota boots so you'll be good to go. did it come with the grease and clamps, et cetera?

Yes, these kits include c-clips, crimps, and the two different types of grease. Everything is Toyota too. Very high quality from what I can tell, haven't had a chance to put them on yet. Waiting till I order all new brakes (calipers, rotors, pads, etc..) That way I only have to go in there once, and I will be putting my lift on at the same time too..

The CVJ axles are near-OEM quality but at less than half the price (direct from Toyota is something like $4-500 per axle). Alternatively, you can also outfit them at purchase with better boots or even longer variants if your truck is lifted 2+ in to better reduce wear and tear.

I got rebuilt axles at O'reilly for $80 with a lifetime warranty,two years and still going strong.
If you factor the cost of rebooting a old cv axle with the labor why not just get a new axle for $30-$40 more and a lifetime warranty?

apparently non oem axles are not strong enough for off road use

How so? parts guy at the Toyota dealer told me that when I went in to get OEM axles,they don't even stock them.

give them a call,I'm just relaying what I was told.

i believe it...dealerships have accounts at all the local parts stores by me. advance, autozone and oreillys where they constantly buy the cheap oil and parts.

so upon further inspection is seems the boot did in fact rip right where the front cv band goes. Axle seems fine no vibration or noise. Time for new boots on both sides. What do you guys recommend for replacement boots. And is there anybody in SoCal that knows how to install these and would help me out for some beers or $$
