Any Smaller Wheel Options for 5th Gen Limited?

Has anyone switched out the 20-inch rims on their 5th gen 4Runner LIMITED to something smaller to accommodate a beefier, traction tire?

It does not appear Toyota / tire makers offer too many tire options for the LIMITED's 20-inch rim. The recommended tires are mainly all-season, on-road tires.

My fear of switching to 18-inch or 17-inch rim is that the vehicle's braking system, suspension, handling, cornering, speedometer, or some other component will be NEGATIVELY impacted.

So, has anyone switched the rim size, and what was the outcome? Good or bad?

I ask because I don't want to open up a pandora's box by shrinking the wheel rim size on the Limited only to create a host of other problems.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Now that we have that out of the way...
The LE trim should be able to fit any wheel that can fit on the SR5 or TE trim as far as I know. That means anything bigger than or equal to 17'' with a 6 lug pattern (6 x 139.7 mm).

I really like the STEALTH 6 MODEL wheels, but I believe they sold out (maybe you can find them on ebay).

I also really like TRD - Alloy Wheels and ended up purchasing them. I am still waiting to have them installed though.

I went to 18x9 on my limited. call discount tire direct and they will direct you or go to one of their stores.

If you don't want to spend a lot just pick up some SR5 wheels, everything is the same except the shocks and depending on tire selection the ride can be similar. But as stated you can find that in other threads.

I didn't want to spend a lot and liked the looks of the SR5 wheels so it worked perfect for me, and when I sold my 20" wheels I broke even. Since I went to a C load LT tire the ride is pretty much the same, better off-road and the same on road ride, and before it comes up, the same gas mileage.
