Any thoughts on AP y-pipe for 06' V8?

I haven't seen any write-ups or reviews.

I have to replace both exhaust exhaust manifolds and the y-pipe will have to be cut off to do the job right. It has leaks everywhere anyways.

All OEM - manifolds, y-pipe - even at the discount stores would run me around $2500 just for parts.

This right side part of the y-pipe with cat is made by AP is only $295. Add the left side for around the same and you get a full y-pipe for $600 with no welding.

My question would be fitment and quality. I'v had those issues on exhaust stuff before and it's no fun.

Any one use the AP y-pipe as a replacement on their 4th gen?

What are you using for the manifolds/front CATs?

What you've posted is only the rear section of the CAT system, correct?

That's correct - only rear section. And to clarify, only the passenger side has a second cat on that side? The driver's side after the manifold intergrated cat is a resonator, not a cat correct?

I ask because the aftermarket y-pipe configurations I've found sell the passenger side AND driver's side section of y-pipe with cats on BOTH sides. Which seams weird if OEM is indeed just the passenger side second cat.

I haven't decided on manifolds. I really want quality fitment but not super interested in the Doug Thorley route. I'd rather have everything bolt up OEM (if possible). A consideration of mine has been:

-Walker Manifolds
-AP passenger side y-pipe w/ cat
-Catco driver's side y-pipe w/cat

My biggest fear is three different manufactures so the fitment will be an issue.

Oh, and for both sides of the OEM y-pipe from toyota would run me $2k alone!! That's from the discount part store too.

Because this job is so labor intensive/pita and you only want to do it once, I would go with OEM exhaust manifold and integrated cats if you aren't going to do Doug Thorley. Whatever you can get from there back is a choice as those are much more easily replaced.

My ex GF bought a Dorman unit from Amazon that I installed on the pass side, and this was on a V8. Fitment was decent from what I recall.

When I did this on my V8, I went the DT route, and a Magnaflow cross over pipe. I know you don't want to go this route but just another data point. Fitment of the headers were sweet, and the muffler shop added the two cats then connected rest of the system.

This is exactly what I went with for your exact reasoning. The toughest part of the job and the greatest necessity for precise fitment are the exhaust manifolds. So OEM (although stupidly expensive) provides that reassurance.

The Y-pipe sections OEM are cost prohibitive. If the AP units don't fit properly then I'll revisit the problem. A nice guy a Yota Tech seems to think that AP in general isn't too bad and thought there's a decent chance they'll fit fine.

I'll try an post updates/opinions on the install.

I'm in emissions state as well but mine came with three cats as shown below!! I can't imagine where the 4th cat lives!

Your's is a 2003 V8 and is different than his 2006, check this link, just keep in mind it only shows the passenger's side exhaust manifold in the diagram, the left which is not shown has another CAT on it.
