Anybody ever go a tint ticket

fonerunner, i just saw 2 cops yesterday comin home from school sittin on the side of the hwy, they do that either to make it look like they have radar to slow us down or just to wait for an idiot to cause a crash or so somthin illegal. i looks and the 2 separate cop cars were either on the phone or on the PC, and rear window tint isnt a law bc the officers just need to be able to see the driver and what he is doing when they walk up to the car during a pull over, incase they have a gun or knife waiting
 
If I was an officer I would want the law to apply to all windows. The driver could have 3-4 passengers who each could have a weapon. I feel like SUVs have more space to hide stuff too.
 
saw where someone said GA doesn't radar? i drove from Charleston to Orlando last week and def saw plenty of cops with their "speed devices" deployed and shooting at oncoming traffic while driving down i95.

and as far as "playing the right card in court" . . . no one likes an excuse (no matter how good of a job you think you did fabricating the story), especially law enforcement. they have heard every excuse in the book. take the heat and be done with it.

I think its just gwinnett...I heard they didn't do some paperwork or some other political nonsense an lost their state radar certification temporarily. State Patrol still uses it though...not that they need it...and everywhere else in GA still has it.
 
Well there is a good ending to this story.

My court date was today. I arrive about 10-15 minutes early and get signed in and all that good stuff. Then I wait for probably 40-45 minutes. There is no sign of the officer and there are a large amount of people waiting for their trials (25-30 people).

Eventually we are allowed to go into the court room and wait another five minutes. The judge comes in and explains that if we want to plead guilty we can just go up to him. A lot of people get in line. I hear the word "drop" or "reduce" a few times and people look like they are pretty happy when they are walking out. This makes me think that he is being nice and reducing the tickets.

The guy next to me actually had a tint ticket too. I see him go up there and get it dropped so I figure I should try too and guess what? He drops it pretty much no questions asked.

I was very surprised. I'm wondering if he was dropping and reducing all of the tickets because the officer wasn't there. Or at least I didn't see the officer.

I'm glad I didn't pay the $155.
 
Store I went to is smart about there tinting.

It's all under the table if it's illegal. No receipts and cash only. Sucks for the buyer, but no way they can get in trouble for it.

Cost me $250 to get all 7 windows done. No windshield. That's a guaranteed ticket.

It can't apply to all windows, some vehicles don't even have back/passenger windows such as cargo vans. Cops only care about the 2 front windows and that is the way it should be. I also agree with the guy who said people with windshield tint are begging for a ticket.

You only need tint in the summer time when the sun is strongest, you could have it removed in the winter - it's only about $80 for 2 windows so that isn't bad to pay once a year. I got my Runner inspected today so now I can tint my front windows, I want them same level as the rest which is %20 correct.

When you get a ticket reduced in court it doesn't mean the cop didn't show up, the city just wants the revenue and they will get it any way they can.

I currently have my 3rd tint ticket. If I can't get it signed off I will do the same thing I always do... make two appointments 30 mins apart. One to remove the tint, and one to put it back on after I drive down to the station to get the ticket signed off.

Officer: "I don't normally pull people over for this... But dude, this is ridiculous..." It was rather funny.

But alas, I am too attached to my tint. Much too comfy.
 
I've had my windshield tinted for 2-3 years and that was the only time it's been a problem. It probably is asking for a ticket, but it's really nice.

Mad 69-I have all my windows tinted so it would cost over $200 to retint them. I still believe that if I was an officer I would want the law to apply to all windows. Just being able to see in the front two isn't good enough all the time, in my opinion.

Don't y'all have inspections in NJ? So it's harder to get away with illegal tint?

I know that they can reduce it even if the officer is there, but this judge literally dropped or reduced over 30 tickets one after the other without even talking to the people. I found it strange.

HB 4x4- Y'all are lucky in CA, at least when it comes to tint. A fix it ticket is much better than a $155 fine. Only allowed 30% kinda blows though.

Who is allowed 30%? Definitely not 30% in CA.
 
Tint, ticket yes in the past

I figured you must be in California when I saw your thread. We're the state with the most BS laws, that police will pull you over for. No tickets yet for my 4runner tint. I'm sure my first will be for no front plate (got one of those on my last car while it was parked in my driveway. In my miata around, I have made a habit of shifting early to avoid excess exhaust, or blow off valve noise. The local police love to pull over anything modded here, even if you are driving within the speed limit. My tax dollars at work.So Gay
