anybody want a hood scoop?

I was thinking of trading anyone that has a Silver 4runner with the standard hood for my TE hood with the scoop (not really my taste). My hood is in mint condition with clearbra installed. Your hood would have to be in mint condition at the least, though clearbra is preferred.

lol...... Mine is not in mint condition as I have 7500 miles and a few little rock dings and SLC Utah is way too far away. I was thinking of having my hood painted flat black if it gets alot of rock dings.

I had a scoop on my last 06 sport and don't really miss it. Especially this time of year around here ,when there are a billion flying bugs out that target the scoops.

Also, the license plate set up looks money. Too bad the dealear had already punched holes on the plastic bumper for stupid plate.

If I change the hood color, I'll also change the hood to fiberglass/carbon fiber to save some weight. I doubt I will be first, as I have other things on my to do list that have a greater urgency.

Thanks for the compliment on the plate. I saw it here first (can't remember the member's name) and threatened the dealer with a lawsuit if they drilled the bumper to put in a plate holder. They were a major pain to trim and install, if that helps any =P

Whats on your plate for next mod? if you don't mind me asking....

I was looking at the rockslidders from shrockworks and can't decide on the finish... they have the black powder coat (semi gloss) and textured black powder coat (satin/flat)

I'm waiting to see what Rocky Road Outfitters comes up with for sliders before I choose. The Shrockworks stick out too far for me. I'm heading down to see a fabricator about a custom roof rack that will mount into the stock holes and have a floor we can stand on for taking pictures, or hold a RTT/gear/fuel/etc. and that will probably be my next mod.

Did you cut off parts of your plate to make it fit? I looked into this for CA plates and the damn letters/numbers are too tall to make it fit along with the California designation. Been running without one but don't know how long that will last before my first ticket.

Also, was wondering whether it cuts off too much airflow like that.

Yes, I had to cut the plate. Since WA doesn't require stickers on the front plate, and because the plate edges are actually sandwiched between two plastic pieces (hiding the cut edges from view), I only had to make sure the letters were visible. When I got the custom plates, I taped the edges with blue painter's tape, marked it with a sharpie and a straight edge, and then used a fine tooth jigsaw to trim the top and bottom of the plate. The lower grill part where it sits actually pops back out towards the radiator, but it's better to just go ahead and remove the fascia, pop out the lower grill piece, and then trim the plate to match the opening. I also used a very long, clear, twist-tie in the top bolt holes to make double sure the plate stays in place.

The airflow reduction is minimal and I haven't noticed a rise in engine temps, with more than 9k miles on it now.
