Anyone doing periodic meet and greets?

Just wondering if there was any get togethers every now and then. Just bought first 4x4 and wanting to get out and learn how to use it. Currently located in Chantiily and just moved here from Los Angeles.

i noticed for on the 4runner forums....meet and greets are NOT held in starbucks parking lot with the porsche guys or at ikeas with the volvo guys.....4runner people like to get dirty! usually meet at a offroad trail lol.

Sounds good to me. Better than awkwardly drinking my coffee and being envious of everyone else's rig. At least if i was to meet at some kind of trail meet then i wouldn't have to stand there too long before we just get to having fun, then chat it up afterwards

If you're in Chantilly there are plenty of people not too far from you. I haven't been on this board for very long, but I never see much action on it with regards to get togethers, trail rides, etc. Seems like there's more activity on various facebook groups these days than there is on message boards.

Appreciate the info. Most of the threads i've seen about any get togethers on here are not recent and i figured i'd put the feelers out there. I seen you on VA4X4 when i was snooping around on the different sites. I know that they have the jamboree in like june or something and i was thinking about going but i wasn't sure as to the skill level of any of the trails.

If you have an 08 or earlier I suggest you do the AndyMod before you start messing around with these boys. Your T4R wont be much fun in the mud without it. You will see what im talking about the first time you try to spin your tires.

Yep, the 4Runner Jamboree is in June. I'm going to Rausch Creek on 4/26 for another 4Runner event, too. If you're on FB check it out here:

I'm not sure if there will be stock trucks at either of those events. There are some trails there for stock trucks but Rausch Creek might not be the best place to go your first time.

I saw in your other posts that you have a brand new rig. I don't know anything about them, how capable they are, etc. And I'm sure you're not ready for dents and scratches. There's always talk on here about trips to George Washington Nat'l Forest (about 2 hours from Chantilly), but they never seem to materialize. That would be a good place to go to get started. If anybody puts something together and actually commits to a date sometime I'd try to make it.

Thanks for the heads up again. Sorry i haven't posted any pics up yet. Still getting settled into our house so haven't had a chance or haven't really thought about it yet. As to the capability i can't really say much yet. I bought it a month ago and a week after i bought it i drove from 2660 miles from Los Angeles to Chantilly. I can say that i absolutely love it though and am def not ready for scratches. The wife already put a ding in it by opening her door right into the gas pump. I am totally down to have some meet ups and run some trails that stock vehicles can handle. First buy is sliders but i don't think that is gonna happen for a least another month. Let me know

I'm in Fairfax. I've been thinking about making a quick run to GWNF (Peters Mill Run) on either a Friday or Saturday morning in the next few weeks. It's about 80 miles one way and looks to be stock friendly.

Yep, Taskers Gap and Peters Mill are totally doable in stock rigs. I'll keep an eye on this. If you go on a Saturday in May I might tag along. Actually, I think I'm going there on May 3rd to ride dirtbikes with some friends, but I'll go with my truck some other weekend.

So... I'm tossing around the idea of doing a quick run to Peters Mill early this Friday. I'll probably leave Fairfax around 0700, get there around 0830, and spend a couple hours on the trail. I plan on getting back to NOVA a little after lunchtime.

Just did Peters Mill Run this past Friday. The trail itself took almost 2 and a half hours to complete with me stopping to take photos and letting my dog run around. The rain from the day before made for good trail conditions (more mud puddles).
I plan on going back in the next few weeks (probably a Friday or Saturday morning), if anyone wants to tag along.

I've never camped out there... I do know that little fort camp is at the north end of the peters mill run trail and it's a small campsite. I'm not sure where the camp Roosevelt site is... There's also elizabeth furnace campground which is right down the road.

I'm up for a trip, but June may not work as I'm organizing a week long OBX trip with friends and family for end of June. If i can't make the June GWNF trip, July should work. Both my 97 and 14 are mostly stock.
