Anyone Else Waiting for Their New 4Runner

We ordered our TRD Pro on 5/12 and were told 6-8 weeks before delivery. (That puts arrival late June - early July but we've heard others are waiting longer. Hope for the best, expect the worst!)

We're patiently waiting while a few choice accessories are starting to ship and/or go into production...

I had to wait 4 days to get mine. I purchased it locally and had it shipped down from near Canada.
Longest 4 days ever.

Ordered mine on Apr 10. Dealer said at dock already and should be released in about 10 days. Won't celebrate till I actually get the call to pick it up.

I ordered my TE (silver w/ KDSS) on April 1st. Just got an email yesterday from my salesman that they will be receiving the VIN sometime next week (meaning I can start completing paperwork and get the payment to the dealer from my credit union). Then it is just waiting for shipping/arrival at the dealership.

I'm looking at 10-12 weeks to get mine (if the cargo ship from Japan doesn't sink for some reason).

I put money down to buy from a dealer who said he already had one on the way with exactly the features I wanted. His price was a little higher than ordering new from another dealer, but he said the delivery date was June 6th. That was a few weeks ago. Recently he updated to say June 18th :/

I ordered mine two weeks ago. Today, I got a build date of 6/14. From there, they stated 6 to 8 weeks. Mid to late August I assume.
The dealer has a white Trail with KDSS that I drove today. I also drove an Sr5 without kdss. I must be in the minority, because I preferred the non-kdss equipped one. Crazy I know!

Current front fascia doesn't really matter to me. However, my best guess is the next Gen will probably get the 3.5l with Atkinson cycle engine. The Lexus RX350, Toyota Tacoma and 2017 Highlander have some version of this engine.

On TFL Truck they raced the old Tacoma vs new Tacoma with updated engine. I liked the older engine sound. Old and new seemed to match each other in a drag race. The newer engine seems to get about 1mpg better. Just not sure. I would like updated electronics. Current 4Runner seems very low tech. Heated steering would be appreciated. When you drive a vehicle with heated steering wheel in the winter there really is no going back.

Let's preface this by stating I'm coming from a 2005 Honda Accord.
After driving the SR5 and Trail with KDSS back to back, the ride felt better on the SR5. It was a bit softer on the rough paved road I was on. The kdss equipped one seemed to hit harder on the same road. It was just much more stiff feeling.
When I turned several tight radius circles, the SR5 did have more body roll, but it didn't feel like it was going to roll over. The kdss kept the Trail more flat, but there wasn't a 10x difference.
The other issue in the back of my mind was longevity of the kdss system. I keep cars for a Iong time. My Accord has 185k on it and I've owned it since it was new. I've read so many kdss threads that my head was spinning. I finally tracked down a dealer that had one of each (in Ohio that took 3 months to find). I don't want to complicate ownership down the road wrestling with repair bills that are 3x the original system's cost. I also want to lift the vehicle and didn't want some of the potential complications that kdss brings. I know anything is possible, but I'll just bank the cash from that option and get a better lift that hopefully gives me the ride quality I'm looking for.
It is a decision everyone has to make for themselves. I waffled back and forth for months. I was glad to finally make the comparison for myself. You need to do the same!
Don't get me wrong, they are both good. My crazy mind is probably coloring my decision, but simplicity is really my goal, so my brain probably swayed my decision away from it.
I could have taken the kdss one home today, but I decided to wait for the non-kdss one I ordered 2 weeks ago. I'm in for another 2 months or so of waiting, but i feel good about my decision! Maybe I made the right decision, maybe I didn't. What I do know is that I'll feel more comfortable owning the non-kdss 4runner in 10 years.
Call me crazy, and I'm sure there will be a lot of people here who say I'm full of s#@%, but you can't argue with your own comfort level. I wanted to like the kdss ride more, so I could say I got my runner today. That isn't the way I felt when I drove the same route in both vehicles.

I'm coming from a 2004 RX8. So I know what you mean about wanting it to last. I guess the part of me that was drawn to a rotary engine was also drawn to the KDSS. Unfortunately there weren't any available with KDSS to test drive, so I based my decision on reading lots of posts on here. I'm hoping I don't regret it once mine arrives.

You won't regret it. You will have no point of comparison. You'll be fine with it and I'll be fine without it. Don't second guess your decision. I got into a mental battle with myself over it and almost drove myself nuts. Enjoy your truck and don't look back. You did what you were comfortable with and that can't be wrong.

So I was able to test drive a TEP without KDSS and it felt great. I'm just saying I didn't get to compare it directly. Everything I read claimed increased articulation off-road with more stability on-road. It was until after I put money down on this one that I saw your words and someone else who mentioned a stiffer ride. But I think I know what you're getting at. I can't wait for it to show up.

My wait was right at 90 days for what I ordered (TEP, KDSS). It was on the boat 2 days before the quake hit. Dealer said that most likely would have added a few weeks to the ordeal. They told me 6-8 weeks when I ordered it too...
