Mine took four months . I wanted a Silver Limited without Third Row seating ...none in the USA....had to be built ..I need all the floor space and the cool way the second row folds flat without the third row....the dealer was not a fault .....he was one of four dealers who would go to the trouble to order exactly what I wanted or rather needed.
It eventually arrived two weeks before the big vacation adventure......I was not upset at the wait long as it made the deadline.
The Runner performed flawless. And got decent gas mileage.

Just got word my 16 MGM TRDP shipped on 7/26. First phase of waiting done.

Won't name names at this time but had worked with a local dealer for delivery of a TDR PRO about 1800 off of MSR although it had several options I did not want. One of the main reasons I agreed to the proposed contract was they convince me there would be a major change in the engine drive train for 2017 that matched the Tacoma. Gave a deposit and obtained financing with an anticipated delivery time of August? Got an email today from dealer that said vehicle was in their lot and would soon be ready for delivery. In the mean time they added a bush guard and were soon to install a running board and wanted to know how I liked their changes.
Told then NOT and refused to take delivery, they next said they would remove extras and it would be like I ordered. Again told them NOT. Thinking now of a 2017 but then again I may just cancel all together. The deposit was made with AMX, I know I can contest and get back if dealer wants to be a sH*T on not giving my money back

Update on purchase, went and looked a TRD that I had ordered, maybe it was originally someone else's deal first? Window sticker showed they wanted to add $3995 for bush guard, window vents, and steps? Yes a 17 year versus 16 is no problem still same great truck but don't know if I can now trust dealer. May just go back to my local dealer that has sold me the last 4 vehicles.

I've never driven a 4Runner but the the 2017 TRD Pro in cement has really caught my eye; hence signing up and my first post. I'm thinking about test driving a 2016 and then maybe ordering the 2017.
Anything I should know?
Are the TRD Pro's in cement limited to a certain number?
Is the 6th gen change supposed to come out in 2018?
Any reason why I should hurry or why I should wait a little while longer?

Technically all 4Runners are limited to a certain number for paint schemes...if you want one in cement, you will be able to get one.
No one knows when 6th gen comes out. Only speculation. Or lies.
Waiting for 4Runner? I recommend buying one asap, because they are fun/awesome.

Update on the status of my 4rtp. Spoke with the dealership this morning on my estimated delivery they say the 4Runner is scheduled to arrive at port on Monday and expect it to take about a week to process. Then another week or so to arrive in Memphis. So the count down begins. They are installing my lift and exchanging the tires before I pick it up. I think they are capable of a good install since a salesperson and manager both drive lifted and nicely farkled 4Runners as well that the shop lifted.
