Anyone have 265 tires with a lift?

2.75-3” lift with 265’s

265’s with Eibach

I have the Eibach Stage 1 kit but used the factory springs on the top perch and it looks great and works great even with the factory Dunlop’s!

Trying to decide between the Grabber ATX and Cooper Rugged Trek’s in factory size…

So I was reading through the previous posts in this thread, and I don't understand the "it's only 0.55" of lift to go to 285s" mindset. If we're talking about "effective" lift, then no suspension lift counts because nothing none of them raise the rear diff? The only "effective" lift, that lifts absolutely everything on the vehicle (including the rear diff), is bigger tires? Or portal axles I guess?

Or is this another one of those "kids these days" mindsets?

Folks don’t understand that bigger tires are a big win in a game of inches.

For us, none of the trails we’ve been on have exceeded our ground clearance, but we also don’t currently air down usually and after been popcorned for hours on end in anza-borrego, we’re ready to go up a size or two so we can maintain our current clearance height when aired down, and be an inch ot two higher when aired up.

Also, as far as my somewhat anecdotal research is concerned, folks can go up to a 33-34” tire without much risk of catastrophic failure (depending on driving style) with just a small lift, bmc and some mild trimming, no regear required.

I ride in 35s(35×11.50) from March until November. Then switch to winter tires that are 31.5s (265/70). Nothing wrong with lift and stock sizes tires.

I am thinking about doing the same thing. Would like to do tires and wheels right off the bat ('22 arrives in May) and then a lift in a year or so. I am going to go 265/70/R17. I am curious about the wheel width to go with. I see some 17x9 and some 17x8. I dont want them to look to skinny when I get a lift. Does anyone know if the 9s will fit? Hope that made sense LoL

I wanted to keep stock size tires because I like my speedometer reading speed correctly.

Also, with bigger tires, your speedometer will be off AS well as your odometer (true mileage) will record incorrectly over a period of time.

2-2.25" front, 1-1.25" rear

Speedometer actually reads a little fast at stock size verified by GPS. 285s will make the needle dead on.

Thought I was crazy as mine does the same thing with stock size Yoko MT's.
Off by about 2mph when compared to Waze.

That's a good looking right there!

I haven't checked with the 4Runner against a GPS but I thikn there is room for error for that reading too due to the latency but since you pointed it out, I'm going to check with my garmin during my next road trip!

Using a tire size comparison for base point, this is what it shows when comparing 265 vs 285.
