Anyone have a factory ABS gear laying around to get a measurement for me.

Long story short. I bought a NSK japan bearing kit to fix rear axle seals. Just trying to cut some cost even though I know better to use anything other than factory parts. It came with everything including abs gear. Put it all together and it is pooring 1000 miles later. Pulled the axle and greased the retainer. Pushed it all back together and it’s not even touching the seal. I had another retainer laying around so I put it on there also(just to try and see where the seal is running) and it is running 1/3 up on it. I think the abs gear may be the problem. Where it meets the lock ring is about half way in the middle of the gear. Curious if factory ones are like this. I always have seated all these parts tight to each other in the past. Just trying to figure out the issue beside the fact that I didn’t use factory parts.

Not quite understanding what you have going on. The ABS exciter ring has nothing to do with sealing or positioning of the retainer that actually seals.
That being said, the position I've noticed on both mine.
Right up against the axle bearing is the outer retainer which is held in by the snap ring. The exciter ring is press all the way down (hollow side towards the outside/bearing) so the snap ring is barely visible. This puts the ring right in the middle of the sensor hole. Then you put the retainer on with about 4-5mm of the "shiny" part of the axle showing on the inner part. I put my inner retainer on backwards and did the grease test to confirm position of the seal. I guess if you wanted to start at say, 2-3mm and use a piece of PVC over the axle to the retainer if you don't have a press. Better to not go far enough than too far.

PS I used NON oem NSK bearings from Ebay. Not that kit though, just bearings. Looked EXACTLY like OEM. No problems for 20000 miles

When the abs gear is seated against the snap ring it covers half of the first retainer that's against the bearing. That is the problem. When seated against the snap ring there is room for two retainers and it still has 3mm to the top of the foresean line. The abs gear is out of spec and the issue. I am going to leave it be though because it is reading fine (no abs light have been thrown) cut the retainers I have on there off and put a new one on 4mm down from the line and I should be good to go.

You don"t seat the ABS ring against the snap ring. It's pressed on to the point that I mentioned previously. If you look at it from the side the outboard side of the ABS ring is lined up with the snap ring.
