Anyone have a rear tire carrier on factory back bumper?

I really like having a spare with me, but the body lift wont allow for factory storage, so i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to mount a spare tire carrier on the factory rear bumper on my 99? Any and all hints, tips, and tricks are greatly appreciated.

Yes. Don't bother. The factory bumper is a little thicker than aluminum foil and is attached to the body not the frame. It's basically trim. Attach a tire carrier to that and it'll look like a pretzel.

I forget who it was but I saw a pic of it on someone's bulod thread today, they made a tire carrier off of their hitch

I know this kit won't work for a 4runner but its an idea you could use.

Never tried to mount anything to my rear bumper.
But a previous owner bolted a "brush guard" to my front bumper. So far the factory bumper mounting brackets have torn through once, my father was able to reinforce the existing brackets with extra steel to hold the bumper on. But the reinforcement is tearing through. I plan on spending some time over the next semester completely redesigning the mounting brackets so it will last until I can afford a new bumper.

My advise: Don't mount to the bumper, it's more trouble than it's worth. Now the trailer hitch is designed to take weight, so it should be fine.

I was just showing how to do what he wants to do i didnt know they were fraud but i was trying to just show how they work and you can make the same thing for 40$ at home:thumb3:
