Anyone have Uniroyal Laredo Cross Countrys?

Here I go again...just can't make up my mind. Local tire shop just talked me out of buying the Mihelin LTX's and strongly encoraged me to go w/ these...checked them out and they get excellent reviews. Info states they were designed specifically over two year period to be the "perfect" SUV tire for 95% of drivers. Pretty impresive overall, especialy the price. A thoughts???

I can't speak for these tires but I have never had a Uniroyal tire that was very good. It has been several years since I have had any so maybe they have changed.

Talked you out of the Michelin LTX? If you are on the road 90% of the time, this is a great tire. I liked my LTX over the current Revo, so I am surprised they talked you out of one of the best?

Don't know about Uniroyal other than they are OEM on alot of vehicles. And they are probably cheaper than the LTX.

Yeah, I really trust these guys and even they know that $900 for new rubber is pretty darn steep....For the money, they swear by the Uniroyals...As a side note, 2 of the 3 mechanics I know there have them on their rides....and the third said he wil probably go with them when the time comes...The online reviews are pretty solid. Strangely, the similar Uniroyal Laredo AWP got horrendous reviews with scary stories about separation, ZERO snow traction, etc. I'm actually thinking this tire might live up to the hype and be just what they say it is...a totally new design for one specific purpose....average SUV owners...weird that one tire can be so bad and the other so good though...hmmnnnn

I had to replace a set of LTXs with less then 30K miles (more then 2/3rd the tread left) on a Taco because they felt like baloney skins in the rain, forget about snow. I had to put 300 lbs. in the bed to drive in the rain. I now have Revos and they are the best truck tire I have ever had, and I had many.

Get the Revos, you will not be sorry

For the record..I love the Revos...Probably the sweetest looking tire out there and I'm sure the performance to match...my only concern is with ride quality...I'm looking for the smoothest, quietest ride possible. I'm afraid based on some of the reviews that the Revos might ride a litle rough, even a Pmetirc, and the road noise might be a bit much due to the aggressive tread design...I'm really looking for a nice all season tire that looks as good as it rides....I think I'm more of an on-road kinda' guy who really never goes 4wheelin. Hhowever living in CO, I need somehting that's very good in snow when I want it to be without sacrificing the ride qualiy....What do you guys think about that? Do you think the Revos might be more for the guy who does a litle more off-rading than me, or is it truly an excellent all season highway tire? Appreciate all the feedback!

I'm with iaonbb. I would love to hear from a couple of you guys who have researched hard on the tire issue to know about the same kind of tire as he is interested in: on the road 95+ percent of time, as quiet and fuel conscious as possible, great in the snow, smooth and solid. C'mon some of you experts on tires--give us guys whose expertise is in entirely different areas some counsel about this kind of tire which would fit so many of us!

Uniroyal Laredos AWP

Hey there it may be too late but I have Laredos and have had them on several trucks in the last ten years...95 Tahoe, 94 Taco, 98 T-100, and now my Tundra, GREAT in rain, snow and all around driving. Don't fall for the "these are the best" Michelins suck, they are hard ridin and hydro plane in the rain, snow is out of the question....just my .02....hope you get what you like.

Anyone who is interested in upgrading or replacing their tires and wants the best bang should get their information from the best source. There is no better source then owners. Just like the information on this site concerning 4Runner's, the Tire Rack (which is one our site sponsors) has a section that allows the owners of each tire rate and tell you about their experience with each tire. Just like this site you can not get better information then that. After looking at this data you will find that the REVOs and Nitto Grapplers are the top performing tires, period. From my personal experiences with many of the top tires on the market I would agree.

I put over 105,000 miles on my last set of Laredos and was VERY satisfied with them. They were much better than the Michelins and Goodyears I had on before them. Don't think you can go wrong with the Laredos, IF you can still find them.

im suprised on your response to the michelins. i had them on my runner, had them on my Sierra(s), on my old olds 98 regency etc and have them on both my parents cars. never had a problem with any of them. they also stand behind them 100%. im actually taking off the BFG KO's off my runner to put michelins back on.

give a few examples, my current sierra had them on for 10 years, i just sold them with 8/32nds still left on them(i only got rid of them because they were 10 years old). my moms car had dry rot problems on hers with 9-10/32nds left on them and had gone about 25000 miles. called michelin and they gave her a 90% credit on each tire towards new ones. that to me is great customer service and they wear like iron.

I've run these on a Scout, a Bronco, and now on my 4Runner. They are a solid performing tire but I'd recommend going with a higher load range than C if you can still get them.

I've taken them to 80k+ miles previously and my current set look to go that long, too.

I must warn you: the side walls are thin and rocky offroading will shred them. I won't drive my 4Runner on any tough offroad trails until I get meatier tires (but hey, that's what the Scout is for).

I've also run the Michelins on the Bronco and got equal tread life.

I'd recommend against the LTX as well. Working at a tire shop through college I'd see more Michellins come back out-of-roud... never left a good feeling with me for the price people were paying for them. I've had a set of P-Zero's and hated them with a passion. I'd go with something cheaper - even a BFG trail, yokohama, or even the Uniroyal. I've only had the mudders, than the uniroyal mudders weren't too bad, just loud.
