Anyone hook up a rear camera to a trailer and tie into factory headunit?

I am looking at getting a rear facing camera to see behind my travel trailer. Its a smaller travel trailer, but I hate not being able to see behind me when driving it for a while. And we are taking a few decently long trips this year. I have been looking at units that have a camera and monitor that I can just mount temporarily when towing. But was wondering if anyone has found a way to tie into the factory headunit display? Perhaps tie into the factory backup camera but somehow wire it to run full time? Was looking at options like this:

No but it shouldn't be that difficult. All you need is any switch to switch off the power supply from the stock camera (which is 6 volts) to the new camera. you wouldn't need the extra screen you linked, just the camera. However this means that the camera you linked will not work unless you step it down to 6 volts (from its original 12). This should do that no problem. https://www.ebay.com/i/252726914685?chn=ps
if keep a separate camera module for this trailer camera then this would work. I have been contemplating this mod as well as my utility trailer could use a camera. But I would go the stock route and wire up to the original harness/Entune touch screen. It may be slightly more difficult but cheaper and well worth it.

There is a thread by Antman titled "switch to activate backup camera" It enabled you to switch the camera on anytime - not just in reverse. Video would be on the head unit as it normally is. Couple that with your camera placement and handle any compatibility issues and you should be good to go.
