Anyone in Austin?

So I'm in Austin till the lifts open in Colorado. After climbing, running, yoga and struggling to find places to mountain bike I still have tons of time on my hands. There's only so much I can take of my family. I've run out of things that I need to do on my 4R, anyone need a hand with theirs? I've got plenty of tools for most jobs. Anyone want to talk 4runners and drink beers? From what I can tell most of Texas has nothing to offer when it comes to trails to drive.

You are wrong about trails in Texas. Have you ever been to Big Bend? No? It's like a whole other world.

I'll be in Austin at the end of the month. Lots of trails in TX. Austin hill country has some great drives as well.

Moving back to Austin, for the 3rd time, in a week or so. I recently acquired an '06 SR5 that I would like to give a little vertical assistance to, but you may be on to greener (whiter) pastures (mountains) by the time I get around to it. What part of town are you in? I'll keep an eye out for your rig.

Thanks preacher35 I'll have to check out Big Bend. My searches didn't find too much other than private trails and people complaining how most trails are private.

I'm staying in Mueller about 5 minutes East of campus and downtown. I haven't seen any modded 4runners around. There's a super clean 2nd gen down the street for sale and also a mint restored LR Defender. I got a thumbs up from a really nice modded FJ TT on 33's with a snorkel.

My family really wants me to be here for Thanksgiving, so I may be here till the end of November and miss out on a bunch of opening days :(

Hey, no problem... Big Bend np has hundreds of miles of beautiful desert trails and canyons. EVERY TEXAN should experience Big Bend at least once. As far as modded 4th gens in Austin, there are several... You should organize a meet and greet in your area... We did that here in Houston and it made for a really killer photograph!

I'm in Pflugerville, between a rock and a weird place:) If you have golf clubs, I'd say lets tee it up! My 4Runner is pretty stock. Mueller area is an up and coming area. Morris Williams is a nice city golf course. As far as trails, I wouldn't know, my runner is on pavement 99% of the time. How are your aftermarket radio/backup camera install skills?

I have a few friends with Jeeps that go to Marble Falls to ride trails. Not sure of the exact location though.

Check out the website for the Greater Austin Toyota Offroad group: The GATOR Forum. I'm not an off-roader myself (getting too old with budget limitations, so I'm trying to respect and preserve my equipment more than the sport allows), but I've met several members and they're great people (you'd expect anything less?).

To my knowledge, most of the off-road activity in Central Texas is at a privately-held place called Hidden Falls Adventure Park: Hidden Falls Adventure Park

Enjoy your trip to Austin. It's a great place; not as great as before it got so popular and full of new people, but that happens to any place with anything going for it.

Why are you struggling to find mountain biking? Tons of trails. If you've been climbing I assume you've been to the greenbelt. Lots of miles there. Especially the "off the main trail stuff". Check out City Park/Emma Long if you want some really technical stuff.

Rocky Hill Ranch east of town has a sweet, flowy, series of loops though the pines.

Better yet, grab your bike and gear and go climbing at Reimer's until your too pumped then ride their trails.

Lot's more just ask......

I am in the Austin/Round Rock area and would love to meet up with some local 4runner owners and head out to Hidden Falls. I am still stock, but would love to see what it can do.

Anderson Mill

Anderson Mill here. If you see me, give a wave...

South Austin here. Have a ton of stuff to add to my 4runner... just trying to find the time and money to get the new suspension/spacers/bull bar/etc. installed.

One of these days...
