Picked up the ARB CKMA12 compressor today. I came across installs in other generations but not for 4th gen.
Anyone have or know of a walkthrough on the install for this beauty for 4th Genr's

Thanks all.

Yep. I have it mounted on the passenger fender in front of my second battery. Just follow the wiring diagram in the manual. Pretty straight forward.

looks good. like the second battery spot.
how did you guys mount it down, ie drilled or existing hole etc.
Did you mount the switch in a dash location, and if you did where did you find a hole in the firewall and how did it fish through.

thanks for the input

I just did trial and error to find a good location, marked it, drilled holes and bolted it in. I put a pad of rubber between the compressor feet and the fender to help reduce the vibration noise.

For the switch I used one of the blanks above the fuse panel on the dash. There is a grommet already going through the firewall that I used a coat hanger and fished the wires through.

It is looking like I may have to add a new access port though for my CB coax and other wires.

I don't have dual batteries in mine. I have Sears Platinum Marine 1160 CCA battery that should be sufficient to run my accessories. I use a power distribution block from the battery and then to a aftermarket fuse block.
Small things like the compressor get power from the aftermarket fuse block. Large things like my amp get power from the distribution block. Both are fused.

Is this Sears Platinum Marine the same size as the stock Panasonic or wider?
I like the cca size . TIA.

I just drilled holes thru the metal fender well then sprayed them with rustoleum to prevent rusting. I put the ARB switch in one of the OEM switch spots off to the left of the column. Used a razor knife to upen it up slightly to accept the ARB switch.

Great thanks all for the input. Hoping to get at this today or tomorrow.
Got a good idea how I'm going to do it now...
I think i saw that firewall grommet hole you mentioned Desert Fox, look high enough on the wall that I wasnt sure how it would fish throu but now that I know it's possible I'll givr a go.

Thanks for the pointers and the pic always help

cheers

That battery is a lot longer than the Panasonic. The Sears is 13 inches. I had to put in a new battery tray.

Hey man i have a quick question for you. I am planning on putting that same battery in my 4th gen and i am trying to decide between trimming the lips on the stock battery tray or replacing it with something better. Do you have a link to the aftermarket tray you got? Is it hard to swap the trays out?

Im wanting to put an ARB compressor in but want a beefier battery for it just incase. Just gotta figure out how to mount the sucker near the v8 airbox!

I don't remember where I bought the battery tray. It was not an expensive one. You could trim the factory tray and be ok. I don't see the value in these $100+ trays

Yea I think ill just trim the stock tray and use all the factory gear, mounts, and bolts and stuff. Should work out. Any money not spent on the tray can be used for other stuff! :D
