The rears are a lot easier to lift on the older models because they used rear leafs, There is only so far you can go with bigger springs and torsion bar adjustments. Even to get a 4inch lift requires alot of modification, not cutting and drilling nessicarily, but new brackets and other such things. You also have to think about steering dimensions, driveshaft angles, so on and so forth, and lastly getting the girlfriend/wife/mother into the vehicle when its so high off the ground :P

on the 2nd gen 4runner, you can lift it as much as 2 inches without anything else. throw those springs right under and your done. new shocks of course. :D if you want to go bigger however, i would check into Downeyoff-road.com. they sell springs as well as a nice kit. overall you will get about 3-4 inches and that will clear 33x12.5 tires. you may also consider ball joint spacers for the front IFS. it gives you a 1.5 inch lift, levels out the front from the raised rear.

i have this whole setup, so if you have any questions, let me know. good luck :bigok:

4x4Ratty, where you able to get a proper alignment with this set-up or did you need anything to correct it? So what I see is that you have:

Front - Adjusted Tensoin spring, 1.5" ball joint spacer and shocks.

Rear - 1.5" Downey springs and 1.5" spring spacer.
