Anyone interested in Anza run on Jan. 16th ???

nobody knowing what was going on I just lost interest.

That actually made for a more interesting trip.

When the destination is Anza Borrego, you almost can't go wrong. You're in the middle of so many options.

I pulled up to find Dezert4Runner (Evan) at the meeting location, after introductions I pulled out my map, laid it out on my hood and we started talking about places seen/yet to see, and figured out a trip, Keemon showed up and was open to whatever, so we set off.

Thanks for sharing the pics, looks like you guys had a great time! I'd definitely be interested in something like this as long as my 2wd can handle the trails!

I agree completely. Having an open itenerary made it interesting and since we weren't on a set schedule we just went at our own pace. It would be hard to pull that off with a large group though.

We went through sandstone canyone and made it over the boulder. We definitely used our sliders today.

Any pics going over the boulder in Sandstone Canyon?

Started off at split mountain so we actually had to go over the boulder twice. This was after going over and then coming back since we weren't able to make it up heart attack hill (one way hill that you're supposed to go down instead haha).

My cousin's tacoma got a little close going over the first time. Sliders definitely prevented a lot of damage.

Here's a shot after 2 of us made it over. We were waiting on one more cousin to make it.

The boulder is in Sandstone Canyon, accessed via turning off from Fish Creek.

Heart Attack Hill is way way North West at the furthest point you can proceed from the East in Fish Creek.

Did you find another boulder blocking an area to Heart Attack Hill? Your photos appear to be the Sandstone Canyon boulder.

Heart Attack Hill is way way North west at the furthest point you can proceed from the East in Fish Creek.

Yea, we started from the northeast off of split mountain road and then went down and into sandstone canyon going west. Went over the boulder and drove a little before we had to turn back because people on the trail said heart attack hill was one way and there was no way we'd make it up.

My point is that Sandstone Canyon is a dead end, there's only one way in. The way out is the way you came in.

Both Diablo Dropoff and Heart Attack Hill are indeed one-way roads (down). Both lead to Fish Creek.

If you can get passed the obstruction in the first part of Sandstone Canyon, there's a lot of great scenery to enjoy. I hope you didn't turn back too soon because someone mislead you.

ahhhh ok. we went to the part where more rocks were there and decided to stop for a bit. debated on going over but it was getting late and didn't want to head back home late in the night.

I don't know why that guy told us that heart attack hill and the squeeze were after that boulder we passed. He was a jeep owner... go figure haha.

Sorry it took me so long to get these up here. We had a great time and really enjoyed meeting everyone. Looking forward to doing it again. I only got a few pics but here they are. Thanks for waiting for us. Coyote canyon was absolutely worth it.
