Anyone know how to remove tar from paint?

I have a little tar on the side of my car that is getting annoying.

Anyone?

Goo-Gone, lighter fluid, a VERY mild lacquer thinner. Whatever you use to get it off, you will need to re-wax the area. Anything strong enough to remove the tar will strip the existing wax.

Sweet try it tomorrow. I don't think it'll matter about the wax, plan on getting it painted by the end of January. I do want to get it off the chrome bumpers though.

WD40 does a good job and will not harm the finish. Might take a couple applications but has always worked for me.

I always keep some WD 40 around for many purposes, but tar-removal is one of its best uses.

+1 for WD40. I use that for almost everything.

Simple Green is my other holy grail.

+1 again...wd40 is a good way. i would stay away fromt he laquer...if you use too much, it could cut into the clear.

Go to any body shop supply place, most care a product called 3M adhesive remover, that works great.

I'm a big fan of Goof Off, but use small amounts over time, the stuff will dissolve paint also.

You should use something made to dissolve tar from auto paint so you don't end up dissolving clearcoat, paint, plastic, or something else you don't want to.
