Anyone know how to turn on the stock 97 4runner alarm?

WHen I got my 4runner, it didnt come with remotes for the alarm, and it is turned off. I am planning to get a remote but dont know how to activate the alarm.
The brain is under the seat, so I know that its still there.
Anyone have experience with these alarms?

Thanks, I think it's in vallet mode.
I'll try to fix it after I get a new remote.

Be sure to get the black remote and NOT the gray remote. Only the black remote works, the gray does not.
