Hey all I don't mean to ninja the thread but I'm in the Clearwater area and would definitely be interested in a meet up or trail run sometime. I have a 2010 Trail that's still totally stock and, I'm sorry to say, has never seen any more than some beach cruising. I grew up in NorCal driving Toyotas and Jeeps in the Tahoe Forest, so the terrain down here is completely new to me. I've been looking for some decent trails since I moved here but haven't had much luck. Let me know if you're interested.

I appreciate the offer on the black SR5 emblems but I too have a trail.

I am still debating going through the shop for the install. Sub 800 though... tough decision.

No way I'd pay 900 for an install. Take it to the on base hobby shop and use their lift and tools. Think it's like 6 bucks an hour to use lift

well 900 for install + mount/balance/alignment. mount/balance + alignment are both 100 each so 700 is for the install. He said it may be less cause they are figuring 8hrs total for the install. Sounds like they are going to do the same thing I will be doing (reading the internet on how to install the lift) so why pay someone that cash when I can do it myself.

They said they just installed a Toytec lift. Sounds like they could do it but im like eh... 900 is a LOT of money. Id rather just spend 200 on the mount/bal/alignment and cost of beer money for my friend to help out.

I city hop constantly between Daytona, Orlando, and Gainesville but a good friend of mine is tech at BMW in Gainesville. He usually handles all my major installs. Don't mind contacting him with the work you'd like done if you'd like.

I'm a transplant from west coast as well, I don't think there are any decent off road trail around here in Tampa. Only off road I do with my truck is by honeymoon island baech causeway side streets as well. :rofl:

Does it really take 8 hours to install those? I've installed lowering springs and shocks on my civic with hand tools years back in my garage is it that much harder with the 4runner? I say if you can get the right tools just do it. Set up a meet up and I'd be down to help you as I'm looking at simple daystar lift option.

Its all pretty straight forward. You just remove the strut from the mount, compress the springs, remove the top hat, install spacer and provided extensions, then reverse steps. Mine is just replace the old with the new plus removing the old UCAs and installing the total chaos.

I *should* be able to sponsor you on base to work on your truck but I'll have to ask the auto hobby shop whether non-mil affiliated people can use the facilities with their sponsor present. They have lifts and all the tools you'll need.

Awesome! The shop is closed throughout the week and myself and another friend are planning on this Saturday and Sunday as an emergency day just in case. I'll shoot you a PM when we get a plan lined up for times. Figuring get there when it opens and finish up shortly before it closes. If there are 3 of us we should be able to bang it out in about 5 hours especially once we figure out how each side works.

Looking like this Saturday... but its Halloween day and Idk if the hobby shop on base is going to be open. I'm going to make several calls and double check their weekend hours.

Hopefully 90% of the bays will be clear. Not a lot of people use the hobby shop anyways so we should be good to go regardless.

Yeah I got two on the way so I can understand where your head and heart must be focused at. I totally forgot it was going to be Halloween.

However

CONFIRMED: if anyone wants to come witness me **** up my Trail (IE learn on another vehicle/hang out) we will be installing on Saturday. Time will be 9:30/10. If you want to come help/watch/give guidance you are more than welcome to. Please PM me for info if you're interested.

We can all get together a couple weeks after so you can admire my handiwork
