This is what I've got growing out back right now. 3 bushes of Carolina Reapers with seed from Puckerbutt company.

I do. I'll take a few pictures of my garden. I have Bhut Jolokia and Hungarian hot wax peppers. Kind of two different spectrums of heat, but they make mean salsa.

The hox wax is very mild, and almost fruity compared to a jalapeno.
The bhut jolokia, well.. You probably already know the "ghosts" are mean.

I see you're in NC. If you want any fresh ghost peppers, let me know.

yeah maybe we can make a trade. i've got a bunch of these coming in but these you have to take in very small doses.

Sounds good! I will snap a few photos of the plants today and post them up here. I've never heard of Carolina Reapers, but thats not a nice name :D

They stack up hotter than the ghosts, at a cool ~1.5 million Scovilles. I think my ghosts are only ~1.2-1.3 million Scovilles.

If you truly loved heat, I suppose you could grow a Resin Spurge in your backyard if you had the heat for it to survive. That would be a bit much though, sitting at 10 million Scovilles. Haha, I looked it up a bit and the chemical found in this cactus is called resiniferatoxin, which is a glorified capsaicin. But pure resiniferatoxin comes in at around 16 Billion Scovilles. I couldn't imagine what that would do to a human mouth. :target:

Aren't Reapers considered one of the hottest peppers? I came across something yesterday about Reaper hot sauce that is supposed to be ridiculously hot!

I use to like hot food but my gut just can't handle it anymore. I still eat some but usually pay for it later which sucks because here in NM, everything is pretty much covered in red or green chili and my wife loves spicy food. We grow some jalopenos, and hatch green chilies but my garden sucks this year for various reasons. Last year our hatch green chili was weak, even by my standards, but our jalopenos were some of the hottest I've ever grown.

Kudos to those that can still eat that stuff.

I've got about half a quart chopped up for a local place here that wants to make ice cream out of them. I took precautions but ran into trouble washing up. Instantly turned my kitchen into the gas chamber from boot camp. Eyes watering and burning, nose running and skin burning like hell. Guess I'll treat these like the CDC handles ebola from now on.:target:

Haha! I cut up few ghost peppers barehanded and regretted it later that night. I got a lot of the juice underneath my nails and for a few days my fingertips burned. I even had coed softball games and from sweating inside my glove, my entire hand started burning. That stuff is intense.

I put it into burgers and almost everytime I opened the grill, I could feel the burn in my eyes.

I enjoy peppers but not as hot as you guys...

I never bit more than one small bite. I don't know what kind of chillies they are but they made my head itchy every time I bit on them.

I have had bad gastritis since I was 16.

Spicy food makes my stomach hurt so bad I crunch TUMS like a fat kid eating candy.

i've had stomach issues on/off after being in africa for a year and then my last year in iraq it kinda stuck that way. its permanently fubar so i eat what i want since i'm always uncomfortable. was hoping the spicier stuff would kill off or straighten it out but not yet lol

^^I took me almost 6 months of nothing but "safe" food after returning from Asia to get myself straightened out, stomach wise. Lost almost 30 lbs in the meantime because anything spicier than boiled cabbage would kill me.
