LT SAS...can someone enlighten me.

Here's an example - it's a photo of an FJ Cruiser with LONG TRAVEL and the SOLID AXLE SWAP (note the front axle and the over sized coilovers)!

That is only an example of a solid axle swap. Here is an example of a long travel kit. It just replaces the stock control arms with longer ones. Allows for more travel.. get it? Haha

Sorry, small pic. Just image search it.

All-Pro has done a few SAS on FJ Cruiser's. I'm sure its just a matter of time before they get their hands on a 5th Gen 4Runner!

They are only an hour's drive for me, but I don't have the "cash" for that to be done to mine. Let alone letting them have it for who knows how long.

Ok, so it's a solid axle with lots of articulation, still doesn't make it a "Long Travel suspension." SAS and LT are two completely different suspension systems. Long travel is an independent front suspension system, while the solid axle is.. you guessed it.. a solid axle.

Now that that is cleared up, someone with some Photoshop skills (not me) should chop a photo of a 5th gen with one of these setups! :D

This is what a TC LT (Long Travel) kit looks like for the 4th Gen 4runners and will probably fit the 5th Gens. The problem lies in modifying the fenders to handle the increased width and travel.

You can have a long travel straight axle suspension just as you can have a long travel IFS suspension. The term "long travel" isn't only for IFS although it is more often used when talking about IFS

Resurrected thread

I'm resurrecting this thread in hopes of seeing a picture of a 5th Gen with a SFA. Anyone, anyone? Bueller, Bueller?

I am always checking with dynatrac, currie and all pro about the electronics part of the conversion. Nobody has an answer for the abs sensor.all pro said lights are on and won't be smog legal. All above said no demand for it to invest time in a tone ring or something to produce signal.I considered using the signal from the rear but that could get tricky if the computer starts applying brakes at the wrong time and wrong wheel.

I'm surprised 4runner owners are looking for an sfa. I thought those only had an advantage in rock crawling and high articulation scenarios. With the somewhat low clearance angles caused by the 4runners long wheel base I'd be surprised to see a situation where you needed the articulation but had plenty of midpoint, departure and approach clearance.

Wrangler unlimited has a 116" wheel base, the 4runner is 110"
