Anyone near Temecula?

I'll be working in Temecula until December, any good trails around these parts? I know the area well, just not the off-road parts. HMU for some after-work wheeling!

What up! I'm in Temecula. There's a few local trails that I've been meaning to check out. And of course, Anza is only an hour away

Sweet! I'll hit you up on slack soon.

We're doing Azna on Saturday 9/23 if you want to join. We're driving down from LA.
Busy that weekend and I'm only here during the week. My wife and I are moving to SD in January, though, so Anza will be easier to get to after that.

thinking of heading up tenaja truck trail to margarita lookout tomorrow after work. i'm off at 330. any takers?

also might head up indian truck trail to santiago peak for sunset beers one of these days.

Smart man! There seem to be groups heading out from SD to the desert nearly every weekend in the winter. There is a local Facebook group that will be worth joining when you get down here.

I'm down to check out these trails! Are these the ones by Lake Elsinore and/or Corona?

Indian Truck Trail, yes. It starts right off of, get this... the Indian Truck Trail exit north of Elsinore.

Tenaja TT was P chill. Head out Rancho California Rd way the F into De Luz and it starts somewhere out there. About 30 minutes from Temecula, once you hit dirt it is suuuper windy for about 12 miles until you get to the trailhead to Margarita Lookout. The last ~500 feet up to the lookout are rocky as fuxk but doable, as evidenced by the black marks all over the rocks. I decided against it because of my last axle blowing up and because I was alone. I drove up about 150 feet to check it out and noped my way back down the hill in reverse.

The trail dead ends into the Camp Pendleton border, so I walked up to the lookout to take in the sunset. There were helicopters practicing take offs & landings and you could see the ocean and hear gunshots & explosions in the distance, muffled by landscape of rolling hills. Would do again. I’ll post some photos from the top when I’m not on an iPad.

the layers of haze were just right. i really wish iphones were able to catch that and the moon better. coming down the trail i came around a bend and BAM full(ish) moon right in front of me. it was huge. i couldn't stop staring at it. had to pull over a few times just to moongaze. the photos don't do the colors from that evening or the size of the moon justice.

I've been going up there for a very long time, the trail that goes up to the lookout used to be pretty fun , one technical section and worth not having to walk up the hill haha.

I've spent many night watching the military do the war games thing from up there, pretty awesom

It wasn't too bad of a walk and I need the exercise!

I'd be down to go back and drive up there, though. Are you free on M/T/W?

Negative, and I won't be free on my days off (sat, sun) for a few weeks.
There's also a area in wildomar that has a maze of trails. People go there to ride dirt bikes and what not but it's truck friendly too. A few spots with good views

Heading up to Santiago Peak via Indian Truck Trail tomorrow after work for #sunsetbeerz if anyone wants to join me. Should be hitting the trail around 415, probably be at the towers by 5ish if anyone wants to meet from the OC side.
