Anyone plasti-dipped their trunk emblems? Roof rack?

Do a search and you'll find many examples. Haven't seen anyone that specifically used line-x on their skid but there are examples of it painted black.

I did badges, roof rails, wheels and the chrome strip on the running boards. The only one that didn't work well was the running boards - my daughter sort of slides down them when she gets out of the car and that peels it off. Surprisingly, the dip has held up well to half of a tough winter - lots of snow, salt and brine.

When I did the wheels, I used the prep spray that they sell at dipyourcar.com That stuff worked really well.

Glass cleaner, or any degreaser, be sure the surface is totally dry. Do not scuff up the surface! Just put one nice wet coat on, let dry, (30 mins, depending on ambient temp) then another wet coat.

Money.

Edit - I should add, no matter how bad you think you messed up on the first coat, LET IT DRY. You'll be very surprised how well it comes out. Honest!

Worse advice I've seen. I tried the wet vs light coats and the light always worked better. Wet coats take a lot longer to dry and cause drips, etc.

Just tape off the easy areas, don't worry too much about getting it perfect (say, how you would tape off if you were using interior paint on trim in your house)

Overspray peels away very easy. Make sure any areas that you'll get overspray on are clean of dirt, and spray some quick detailer on there to make removal of any overspray that much easier.

Once you've sprayed your item, and its fully dry, go over the edges lightly with a sharp x-acto knife, just to make sure when you go to peel off the excess, that it doesn't take your intended work with it!

Will do! My hubby can do what he wants to his Duramax and I'll do what I want to my T4R. He exhibited enormous restraint when I was picking out new wheels and tires. Haha!
