Anyone put 5th gen Trail Edition Wheels on a 4th gen?

I'm thinking about picking up a pair, but was wondering if anyone else has done this yet? From what I've read they have the same offset as FJ/ sequoia/tundra wheels so they'll sit out about 3/4'' wider than stock 4runner wheels, which is what I'm looking for.

Joking aside they should fit, but why would you want to? I think they're horribly ugly. The newer sr5 wheels might look pretty sweet though, especially powder coated or painted black.......

I was thinking of doing the same. Only repaint them a darker silver. With some beefy tires I think they look good. Please post some pics if you go through with it.

Yeah, I don't know how exactly I feel about the Trail wheels but I think painted a dark gunmetal grey or black they'd look alright. I like the SE wheels, but a wider offset would be nice. I had spidertrax spacers and I think they set the wheels out too far for the FJ lift, looks like a lowrider :nono:

Yeah, I just installed a set of 5th Gen TE wheels along with a set of new Michelin Cross Terrains on my 4th Gen SR5 today as a matter of fact. I'll take a pic tomorrow and post. I left the TE rims stock (no powder coating). I prefer that look, but to each his own.

Thanks! I like the look. Personally, though I live in a major metro area, I have yet to see a 5th Gen Trail Ed on the road, though I have seen plenty of pics of them, and certainly haven't seen a 4th Gen with the TE wheels on them.

Thanks! I'm liking them too! I was NOT fond of the stock SR5 wheels.

Yes, it is a slightly wider stance. I calculated it from measurements of the TE wheels as opposed as the OEM SR5 wheels at about 1 1/4" total. I can notice the difference when I look from the front or at an angle.

I found them on the Classifieds in this forum. I have noticed that a set of them seem to come up there for sale on average about ever month or two, and they are typically almost new take-offs. The prices I have seen for the rims only is usually right about 5 C-notes plus shipping, though that may vary somewhat depending on if the seller is in a populous area where customers wanting to buy them are close enough to drive to get them, because obviously buyers compute total outlay with shipping. Sometimes they are sold with the almost new OEM tires, and sometimes just the rims. I bought the rims only and paid just over 5 bills, shipping included.

Fj & 4runner trail wheels

They give 15 mm or 0.59" spacing. Helps with the stance just a little.
The rims look good in person they have a gray/silver paint and machined outer ring.
