Anyone put a "Better Built SUV Drawer" from Northern Tool in their 5th Gen yet?

Came across this and it looks decent, and seems like it would fit on top of the slide out cargo tray.

The problem is with one large drawer, everything is commingled...as in a couple of good bumps you may as well put in a blender

True, but I am sure you can rig up a divider pretty easy.

I just like the idea of the metal system of building one out of wood, and the other options like tuffy and truckvault are just to expensive.

Any reason, you haven't installed yours?

No real reason, just been busy and haven't gotten around to drilling the holes to attach the turnbuckles to the box and then have em connected to the d rings in the truck... it's a great drawer and would recommend it

Is it possible to remove the drawer and drill at four corners and permanently bolt to the bed of the truck? Eliminating the use of turnbuckles?

What I am thinking is removing the rear carpet mat, leaving the floor carpet, drilling and then setting the box, at the four corners, on some sort of Delerin/plastic spacers, bolting through with SS hardware

Cutting the mat removed and use this on top, adhesive to hold in place. Once the drawer is removed, then you can fabricate and install some sort of divider system with moveable inserts, sort of like a Plano plastic tray. Even go as far as Linex inside the drawer, to quiet things down. Or use drawer liner like on my roll around tool boxes.

Yes the drawer comes out and you can absolutely bolt it to the rear floor if you wanted to go that route...

Nice set up. What size drawer did you use? I am planning to shamlessly copy your approach to the storage problem in my G5TE.

I use 80/20 stuff for my business, and it's the perfect thing to use for making your own custom fit drawer. https://www.8020.net/

I will post a new thread with the exact things I use and a step by step. There will be some cutting and drilling involved, but since it's aluminum, you can use wood saws to do it.

Not that the one from Northern tool is junk, it's a great plug and play item. I just want a lower profile (2.5" interior height) and the full width of the back.

Primary use is to hold an AR-15 and mags, tow strap, first aid kit, power bars and emergency blankets. 2.5" is all the depth I need.
