Anyone remove Toyota emblem from liftgate?

I am doing a few things to the liftgate, one of which is painting the rear trim piece just above the license plate. I got it off, but there is no access to the emblem from the back... anyone have a trick to remove the emblem without destroying it? Thanks!

I have never removed the emblem, but most all of these emblems now-a-days are usually attached with very thin double sided tape, not sure if it's a good idea trying to remove it or how to go about it without breaking it.

Yup, double stick tape.
Can warm it up (heat gun, hair dryer) and use fishing line to get under the tape. Or just pry gently, heat helps.

The "TOYOTA" and "4RUNNER" text is double sided taped on, as noted above.

The swoopy "T" emblem is part of the big piece of plastic. I saw it apart once at the body shop, the wiper has to be removed to get it off the endgate.

3M adhesive remover

is really helpful to remove the tape/glue residue. :lever:
