Anyone replaced viscous cooling fan? (Fan Clutch V6)

Hi
My viscous fan seems to have some weeping, should it be replaced or is there another way to fix,. At 95k miles all original including water pump, 2009 model.

You are correct, if it's leaking it's time to replace.

I'd stick to the Aisin part since they're the OEM for it. Most of the aftermarket ones seem to have bad reviews for failing early, while many of the original fan clutches are still functioning after 15+ years.

Nothing, it just doesn't seem to be a common thing. Pretty sure mine is original at 20 years old and 220k. Yours is the first post I recall seeing about having an issue.

Saw few only on V8 engine nothing on V6s. Mine is a V6.

You can buy the Aisin part from rock auto for about $90. Aisin is the OEM manufacture. I replaced mine when I was doing my cooling system overhaul, but there was nothing wrong with it.
The fan clutch usually doesn't go bad that early. Its pretty easy to replace though.

That one is for the V8, also that price is MSRP, you can find it for much less at other dealers who sell online,

Not sure what we're suppose to be looking at....BUT if all the oil leaks out you may not hear any noises, usually the main issue would be the engine not cooling properly, so keep a watch on the temperature gauge, if it goes even a little over "normal" I would stop driving and let it cool off, if you let the temperature go anywhere close to the maximum temperature on the gauge trying to drive a little bit further you could risk major damage to the engine.

I guessed that's what you wanted us to see, but it still doesn't tell us how bad the clutch is, it may still have plenty of oil in it and will work fine...for now...but when enough oil leaks out....then the rest of my prior reply is what advice I would give....other than to just replace it and not worry about it any longer, which you're going to have to do at some point and I would do it sooner than later.

The point I'm trying to make is it's worth spending a few bucks replacing it now than to have to spend a LOT of money later to replace or do major repairs to the engine.

100% already ordered the Oem part all I have read is stay away from aftermarket. Interesting enough Toyota does sell the the oil part 08816-10001.

Yes they do sell the Oil Silicon and it can be replaced to revitalize the clutch, BUT if the seals on your clutch are bad just replacing the oil will not last for long, hopefully you ordered the clutch and not just the oil.

Clutch bought no oil, $200 is better safe than sorry. From my research a bad fan clutch is a big reason for the water pump giving up prematurely too. Got water pump and thermostat let me do more preventative maintenance to get another 100k miles trouble free. Thanks for your insights.
