Cooling fan bracket bearing

So I am in the process of doing my head gaskets again and I was looking at the cooling fan bracket and wondering if anyone has ever had this part fail? I looked it up but it seems that you can only order the whole fan, clutch, pulleys and bracket together and it costs $700? Can the bearing itself just be replaced?

You can purchase only the bracket through rock auto or scamazon as an Aisin part FBT-004 i think and the Aisin clutch separatly, double check your vehicle. You'll want to measure everything 4 times before pressing it apart and if you get it wrong its a lot of work to dig out so I'll let you read the bearing number off the backside of the fan bracket.

I don't know the internal bearing specs, but if you do press it out, support the aluminum bracket as close to the bearing as you can. Otherwise it will crack like a saltine cracker. It's 119$ on rock auto and get yourself a 5% coupon code.

The Aisin I got off Amazon was an obvious fake, the Rock Auto one looked better so I installed it. Don't know if it's fake or not, but it's working. Just my couple of cents.

Got mine from ROCK AUTO. The oem spun too freely, but could BIND if cocked. Fail. RA part seems fine.

Mine failed after my timing belt replacement. This could have been from loose belts before and properly adjusted belts after but none the less it did fail. You shouldn't need pulleys unless they are bent. There is a rudimentary test for the clutch fan. Slower spinning cold and faster spinning when hotter. That $700 dollar price I assume is another dealer quote. Get the fan bracket off rock auto. Mines been working for over a year now with no problems. Some parts are ok to use on our rigs that aren't oem or name brand. Other parts that are essential to longevity and reliability require paying to play or paying the piper or eating the cost or however you want to describe not worrying about the price of said parts.
