Anyone running Icon stage 1 lift?

I just picked these up on craigslist along with a CBI rear bumper. What was a sweet 98' 4runner completely destroyed from front passenger LBJ failure.

A couple of questions; if it's true that they recommend stock springs for the rear 2" lift, I can slap these puppies on tomorrow. Anything else I'll need before digging around in there? Extended bump stops or anything?

Is it stupid to put these on the car without getting 'em serviced?

The rear shocks won't affect your ride height (or shouldn't). The rear depends on spring height and under-load compression. If you're adding a rear bumper, you might decide to get some heavier "lift" springs. OME makes good ones, just know they are side dependent.

Unless they're damaged, or have a lot of miles on them, they should be just fine without a rebuild.

Very nice dude with his own yard in the auto parts district of ABQ, worth visiting or keeping his number, he had other 3rd gen runners. I got really lucky in price and in timing; there was a guy coming at 3pm, I was there at noon. Both of us drove 6 hours roundtrip I'm thinking the other dude got some excellent BFG Tires, maybe the rear coils (can't believe I didn't ask for them:mad2 and maybe even the engine if the guy's taken the post down.

Awesome, thanks for the info. On their site, they have recommended service intervals that would keep my runner out of commission 50% of the time; every 1k miles if you offroad, and I LIVE offroad, so... hope they're exaggerating.

Meanwhile rear diff is definitely leaking its juice. f$#k.

Ahh yes I was going to get the bfg two weeks ago and bailed due to it being E load, my 4unner is a daily driver so kinda overkill. What else did you get?

I can only say what i shoulda got and didn't Reads like an account of an insanely stupid man, but in my defense, I had a thief's adrenaline high going I was getting such a deal on the bumper et al.
I almost grabbed the tires, but then realized they're same size as mine, and with the lift gonna go immediately an inch or two bigger.
I shoulda grabbed the rear coils and checked if he had better/extended bump stops and grabbed 'em, too. Checked for a diff drop and didn't find it.
Shoulda checked if there was a body lift or the fat, polyurethane bumper stops, keep it from going into the body.
When I showed interest in the black SR5 fender flares, he offered 'em to me free, a perfect set, and I didn't take 'em. Nuts.
He took a look at my seats and showed me another runner same color as mine, SR5 but fugly outside, with same seats without tears/stains and I didn't take those either. Holding out for leather

Icon stage 1 3" lift on - comments

Got both bumper and front and back lift on, Sonoran Steel diff drop and almost perfect alignment as of yesterday. Right now truck is level, about three inches lift front and back. I'm going to get SPC UCAs and replace all LBJs; when I put the UCAs on, I'll drop the front 1/2", I think, close to the 2.25" lift you get from the factory. I think the previous person cranked these a little too high, maybe even into the not recommended zone, also had skids and CBI front bumper (toasted), and V6 so was a lot heavier than mine.

Da ride: The rear combo of OME 906s, 10mm OME trim packer each side with the Icon 2.0 shocks is fricken stellar, can't call it stiff or jarring and couldn't have asked for better in height or in feel. The front 2.5 coilovers I just got put on yesterday and they're stiffer than the rears on the road and phenomenal off. Take more getting used to now the whole truck is lifted. I'm driving like a grandma, somewhat, kinda afraid something will fall off or break...

I saw a vid comparing Fox and Icon setups and they commented how the Icons are generally better rated offroad than on, and vice versa for the Fox. I really like the road feel with this setup, and speedbumps are very nice; they're not absorbed but lifted over and immediately stable on the other side. Dirt roads, driveway and washboard are great, but I did spill a lot of coffee this AM.
