Anyone running the new Bilstein 24-248730 / 24-249966 shocks? Opinions?

The 6112 shocks and springs come as kit, also the 6112 shocks are 2.5" in diameter. but you can buy another brand of springs, such as Kings

Will I be able to use these shocks on that coil-over kit, or do they have to be purchased as a kit? I admit I don't know much about suspensions... I paid someone to install my last set of Billie's and OME coils, 7 years ago

Use the springs the kit comes with. The shocks are specifically tuned to this spring and you won't get a better ride with any other spring. For the rear you should run the 5100s (3rd Gen 4Runner, not Tundra!!!) and the 906 OMEs (or 890s if you want a little more lift and a softer rate).

I'm also interested to hear if anyone is running these. I was confused about all the information out there claiming 5100's are only available for Tacoma or Tundra so I called Bilstein about this last week. A very knowledgable rep informed me these 24-248730 fronts and 24-249966 rears are engineered specifically for our 3rd gen 4runners and are best used for 0-2.3" of lift. It's good to know, and I think we should spread the word that we no longer have to choose between tundra and Tacoma 5100 shocks for those of us with mild lifts. I'll be ordering these to go with my new OME 880/906 coils.

Subscribing to this thread. My Tokico's are on their way out and I may be looking at replacing with Bilsteins (and an OME 881/890 setup).

You are correct, that was a long time ago. My 2014 Tundra Billy's from Sonoran Steel came with the correct bushings. With all of the weight we add to our trucks I'd rather have Tundra shocks than ones valved for a 4runner.

Also from what I'm reading if you decide to go with LC springs in the rear someday these 4runner shocks will be too short.

Price.! I agree sir. The price is very expensive. They do have cheaper options. Your lift isn't rebuildable, it doesn't have remote resi, it's not extended travel, and doesn't have dampening adjustment. And I doubt your ride is nice when going fast over bumps. So you get what you pay for. A lot of members have icon, fox , King.... Wouldn't really say it's overpriced lifts. Its lifts that cost more money.

I'm simply saying that I have bilstein all around. And I don't like the on road feel of it. It's to stiff for me.

Like I said in our FB group, I think it's your springs that are too stiff, not the Billy's. I love my Billy's along with TRD front & LC rear.

I want to state also that the Billys are actually really soft in most conditions. Your coils are your stiff issue. I have rode in Eibach lifted toytec kits and they are stupid stiff. My buddy asks me why my OME 881's with OME shocks ride so much better than his ultimate lift kit.

That seems opposite of what Patio Burrito found, at least with the ToyTech super flex coils.

I believe the Tundra Billys have changed over the years, 4 years ago on my last 3rd Gen I had Tundra Billys that rode like butter, the new ones on current 4Runner are definitely stiffer

we are talking about the large bore 6112 shocks. not the 5100s

Grooves are for the different lift heights. Depending on the circlip setting, you can get anywhere from 0-2.3" lift. I believe each groove will increase/decrease the lift by approx 10mm.

Yes these are the 60mm ID 6112s that were just released on the Bilstein online catalog.

Cost should be in the $600 range for the kit (based off prices of other 6112 kits for different applications).

Might not be available for purchase through distributors yet but should be real soon. Let's just say I know a guy and was able to get my hands on a kit. But be patient as distributors should have them very soon (if they don't have them already).

Just wanted to bump this thread because I'm looking at the 4Runner specific Bilstein 5100s (Front: 24-248730, Rear: 24-249966).

Is anyone running these or know how they compare to the Tundra 5100s? Every thread I find seems to mention that they exist but stops short of ride impressions (or in the case of this thread end up talking about the 6112s).
